Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

The winning goal! Watch the replay. Do people actually think Skinner can see that puck, knuckle or otherwise. I see nothing but Foegele in his windshield and Bouch playing his bodyguard. Danault shots an off-speed thru the screen from the slot and no forward appears in the picture til after the red light. 100% on Skinner! Wow!
I hope they’ve don’t start Skinner next game. Maybe when they leave Pic on an island for a goal he can walk down the bench suggesting his mates get their head outta their ass!
It's not a matter if he sees it, it's a matter of him not battling hard enough to get in the way of the puck. If you don't see the puck you don't crouch and make yourself smaller, you lunge at the puck. It wouldn't be the first time a goalie stopped a puck that changed direction when he was blinded. Skinner wasn't even close, it was an embarrassing effort at a critical moment tbh.

Goals 2 and 6 CANNOT go in at this level. This is the Stanley Cup playoffs, this is not good enough. They STILL bailed him out and he responded by just failing as hard as possible in the key moment.

Again, I don't care why you need to die on this hill, but you don't get to change reality because it doesn't suit this hill.
Two terrible played periods this is the stanley cup playoffs lol.

Goal two he made the save and kicked the rebound to the corner and Byfield made a good play and was in the perfect spot.

Goal six was a complete fluke that he didn’t see because of the Foegele screen

Exactly. Nobody with even basic intelligence thinks anyone on here personally hates Skinner. I cheered him at a game the same night I bashed him on here. And I'll probably do it again. But I want this team to win and Skinner has repeatedly confirmed my doubts about him having the ability to take this team all the way. I don't think he's an NHL starter, and some nights I don't even think he's an NHL goalie.

But like you said, there are plenty of Stuart Skinners in this world: incompetent nice guys who charm their way into positions they can't handle. Of course it has to be our management that's naive enough to fall for it.

Also, I feel like he plays just well enough to keep his job, but not well enough to be good at it. Like he'll have three or four stinkers and then stand on his head against the Rangers and boost his GSAx, but on a per game basis, he's disappointing more often than not.

Or almost single-handedly cost us a series against Vancouver (yes, even in Game 7), and then turn around and steal the Dallas series, then go right back to shitting the bed when his job has been secured.

Stuart Skinner supporters in a nutshell.

I think Stu and the generally lackluster goaltending this market has seen for a number of years has broken the brains of people watching.

As has been said, and will keep being repeated, not every Mistake a team makes, and they ALL MAKE THEM, has to end up in their net. The goalie is allowed to make a save.

I'm not gonna lie. By now I can't f***ing stand the guy. But due to having to tolerate him in goal now for years and trouble is when you spot things its harder to look away. The triad of Woody, VD, Skinner really irked me as well. They all would have a penchant for acting like they were the reason the club was winning in any given night. A conceit even while being mediocre. Thats the worst.

I have zero interest in staying up till 1AM Central time to watch Skinner lose position, be unable to get across the crease and half try on saves for another game.

Stuart Skinner defenders are so out of touch with actual reality that its no longer them not knowing how elite goalies are in net and what value they bring to the team, its also what an average goalie can do with this team also.

Yep, said that earlier. The Kings were on the ropes and Knoblauch was looking for the knockout punch, Maybe the Oilers would have won in OT anyway but the Kings were staggered big time after that tying goal and the Oilers were smelling blood so keeping the foot on the gas pedal was the right call IMO.. All in all, it was a knuckler that won the game for the Kings, a fluke combined with a goalie that put minimal effort into trying to stop the puck. I don't blame Knoblauch for his player deployment in that situation, I blame him for starting Skinner and inserting Josh Brown into the lineup who had no interest in playing anyway.
That's the Stuart Skinner special. The opposition is staggered, the coach and the Oilers smell blood and steps on the gas to keep the momentum going. Instead of stepping up with the rest of the team, Stuart shrinks and costs us the game. We seen this too many times.

Kempe and Gavrikov mocking (deserved) fat f*** moustache post game.
As much as I'd love to pile on, I believe they're imitating Danault's 'stache for his bomb of a game winner. The full team picture after a game 1 win is a little irritating though, hope the Oilers take note and refuse to be denied game 2.

Tough game, gut-wrenching ending. Really think Knob made a few poor decisions (Josh Brown, early line blender) and particularly his call to leave gassed players on the ice after the tying goal. At that point I think you just need to get to the end of regulation, let McDrai catch their breath and unleash them in overtime. LA had no answer for them when they were going but tired decision by McDavid, then Bouch (his pinch might've just been stupidity in the context of his overall game but I'll chalk it up to fatigue anyways lol), then a tired backcheck from Drai and a clueless Stu and we all get our hearts ripped out 30 seconds after we all flew off of our couches celebrating.

Lots of passengers last night. Need some of our wingers to figure their shit out, almost to a man they've been below average all season long. Loved Perry's smart down low plays though, he's a crafty bugger. And I know it's been said many times already but McDavid played downright heroic the last 21ish minutes of the game. The spins out of tight checking pressure for 2 of his assists were beautiful.

If Blackwood gets hurt, I still would take Pickard and Delia tandem over Stuart lol

Stuart is unplayable
At this point, that is what these idiots should be doing.

Might as well get desperate and bring that guy up and chuck Skinner away.

Bu they will never make a move like that. They should just assume they are done with Sieve Skinner, but they think they will "ruin his confidence" by just dropping him now. That is how these idiots think.

They probably still think there is a goalie somewhere in there lol

Its almost as if it was a mistake for me to watch Mackenzie Blackwood playing his first playoff game. The guy was reminding me of Cujo or Roloson. Then we have game 1 and Skinner in net and I have to watch this. Its hard for me specifically. I grew up watching guys like Ken Dryden and Tretiak battle. So that I know it can be so wonderful to have a decent or great goalie in net.

Even from an org that had Fuhr and Cujo in net how can they not realize how huge a factor goaltending can be in playoffs.

There may well be a goalie in there but he's so messed up fundamentally, it won't be this postseason. Gotta cut bait to have a chance.

Hopefully we just go back to the ol' dependable lines for game 2. Chemistry was off big time for the entire team.
I think they should just turf the 3 center look.
Just go back to...

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Janmark-Henrique-Brown
Skinner-Frederic-Perry

We know that lines 1 and 3 have worked at some point, the goals didn't come but Drai works well with Podkolzin because he frees a lot of pucks up for Drai and see if the 4th line clicks.
Why Knob put together a bunch of lines that never played together in Game 1 is beyond me then he immediately blended the whole thing to smithereens in the 1st period.
Just stick with some lines that have known chemistry and please for the love of god stick with them for a while.

Wow. A day later.

Next thing you know, a goal on Skinner has something to do with them spotting somebody in the crowd pointing a laser in his eye = deflection by the skinner support crew.

A whole lot of excuses for this guy all the time. Can't ever admit that he played like shit, some of the goals especially the GWG were shit. It's always poor precious Stu.
