Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

He flat out sucks. He can shoot it hard but can't aim for shit, can't win board battles and flat out sucks. Sit his ass and play Philp or Savoie in his spot.
For all the shit Yamamoto got, Arvidsson is demonstrably at the same level. Small, terrible production given his at bats with the quality of linemates he's had and loses puck battles all over the ice (Yamamoto at least won his fair share, being even smaller). How the f*** is this guy a prize signing in the off-season?

He froze as Foegele jumped in from of him.

You know what, you're right, he did freeze when Foegele jumped in front of him.

This is just one of the many, many faults in Skinner's game. He has absolutely no fight in him. He never battles to see pucks through screens. If someone is screening him he just goes into his butterfly and prays the puck hits him. Laziest goalie I've ever seen.

Kuemper is a system goalie that got beat mostly by elite level plays. If we had Kuemper we win the cup. If LA had Stu we win this game 7-1.
We don't win the cup with Kuemper in net, he's not that good. Colorado won in spite of him a few years ago, and he's been protected by LA's hyper defensive systems play all year. If the Oilers get in a grove, he'll crack again just like he did tonight.

Don't mistake my pointing out that Kuemper is vulnerable to the Oiler's attack as somehow comparing him to Skinner either. Skinner is his own special case of bad that any other team in the league would have replaced mid-season.

Good on Knobby for throwing the big boys back on the ice after playing for basically 4 straight minutes and couldn't even back check because they were so tired. Great coaching there, along with the challenge.

Was gonna comment on this. Those guys were dead. That 3 on 2 against developed slowly, but no forward in sight until Danault is taking that flopper shot. You got a gift and a chance to win this game in OT, we decided that wasn't good enough and decided to full on gamble for the quick win and got burned.

Yeah, lets replace our one offensive D and then wonder why we cant breakout the puck, or make tape to tape passes.

Funny - There are other offensive D men who aren’t a compete disaster defensively. Bouchard is the king of the 2nd assist handing pucks to McDavid. Bouchard is an equal threat on both ends of the ice.

Get one who isn’t.

Knob is coaching himself out of a job this season. But he has enough "rep" as a vaunted D systems coach that he probably gets a job a lot faster than Woody

Unfortunately I'm still not even sure they figure it out. Schwartz will have his opinions.

its up to the players on this club to speak out and get what they want, Pickard in net. If I'm McD or DRai at this point I'm saying it.

Remember me mocking Skinner doing fist pumps getting a shutout in game 82 against an AHL level squad? McD didn't even look at him and turned away.

The only chance the Kings have is Skinner in net.
Have to go with Pickard now (wait, have I said that before?)

It might help if there was someone on the farm they could call on but they won't start Rodrigue (he's not any better anyway). This other guy Delia apparently had some good starts in Bako though. Career AHL'er but why not make that move?

I'm tired of him, too, but to be fair this goaltending mess isn't his fault. He was (correctly) pencilled in to be the club's back-up for the current period, which would have been fine.

The massive screw-up that will cost our club a Cup was the signing of Jack Campbell, by Holland and his brainiac crew, which has forced us into the current situation.

(Saying that, they probably could have acquired a goaltender last summer by not wasting time on Arvidsson and J. Skinner, who they barely play.)

The unanswerable mystery of Stu Skinner is why the coaching staff and (apparently) organization feel duty-bound to put all their eggs in his basket. Skinner had a solid rookie season in '23, an okay sophomore season in '24 (nothing worth signing big contracts or getting extensions over), and a forgettable / AHL-level third season in '25. You'd think it would by now be obvious to the coaching staff that he is not as good now as he was two years ago, surely a worrisome trend with a 26-year-old (or whatever) goaltender.

PLAY THE GOALIE WHO'S BEEN BETTER THIS SEASON (i.e., Pickard). Why is this so difficult...??
Campbell was the plan but we’ve had more than enough time to pivot.

Plenty of time to make an adjustment

Just throw in the towel. Clearly you won't but change the tune. Nobody on the board is going to listen to you ever at this rate. I'm being kind with this.
I think most used to enjoy his GDTs. Why he went from that to dying on the Skinner hill is mindboggling.

I have a much longer leash for Bouchard because he has demonstrated actual good play in the past.

Something you can’t really say about Skinner.

Bouchard has a half season and last years playoffs of strong 200 foot play. Skinner had a hell of a hot streak last year too. Either way I’m out on both players. No thanks.

Yamo before the concussion was a pretty good player who potted 20.
