They determined Pinto slashing the ice was a penalty among a long list of other things so far this season.

Huberdeau lifted his skate off the ice and motioned it towards the puck making contact. If that's not kicking then I don't know what is.

It's one of those "we'll call the letter of the law against Ottawa and the spirit of the law against whoever they play".

There's not even an argument in my mind. I've seen skates come off the ice trying to stop, I've done it a million times when I played and it looks nothing like what Huberdeau did which was... an obvious kick at the puck.

If you want to call the spirit of the law and say "that's not an egregious kick", fine. But call every game like that. And not "well Stutzle put his stick on the ice but it knocked the Carolina player's stick out of his hands, NO GOAL!"
I’m of the opinion they actually made the correct call. He turned his skate to deflect a puck already in motion. To me it really should be the puck needs to be sitting still or just barely be moving prior to being considered a kicking motion.

She can also be genuinely good at her job. It's not false praise just because she is a women.

Editing this because I worded my initial reply poorly. But if you go and read my post, it doesn't invalidate genuine praise. It just points out that there is an obvious contingency of false praise because she is a woman who has broken in, and an obvious contingency of people who are misogynistic about a women commentating in hockey. Both feed into each other.

Was late finishing watching and therefore stayed up way too late but all worth it. Love the little streak being put together by the squad. What a start to the road trip!

Hilarious ending with big Sens celly and exit. Then the cameras show the entire Flames bench hanging around and Bronx cheering and stick tapping the officials right off the ice. 🤣🤣👌

There is a bit of it on both sides. The misogyny and the extra need for false praise because she is a woman. They both feed into each other.

It's a person doing their job.
I mean, painting them as equivalent is a take for sure.

I dunno how anyone can say false praise with a straight face when half our games are broadcast by SportsNet.

Nahhhh no way I take out Amadio for Gaudette or Crookshank.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Stutzle - Giroux
Cousins - Pinto - Amadio
Gregor - Ostapchuk - Gaudette

If somehow they decide Pinto on wing:

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Giroux - Stutzle - Pinto
Cousins - Greig - Amadio
Gregor - Ostapchuk - Gaudette

It feels like Gaudette is 13th F when Perron is back. No way Osty is taken out at this point.
Pinto is killing in the face-off dot and driving through the center of the ice. He's too good at center to not be playing there. Grieg is doing yeoman's work whereever he is in the line up. He's improving night over night. Glad he's going in the right direction.

Agreed with this, how can it be "a bit of both" if she is actually good? Like ya, some women might get the spot and suck, and any praise they get is mostly because they are a women. But if you come in and do a good job, it doesn't matter where the praise comes from, it is valid either way.

I'll break it down for you pretty easy as someone who doesn't gaf. It's the shrillness of the voice that's the problem 100% of the time. Kenzie still needs to work on this.

A woman's voice is honey to the ears when they're speaking naturally and confidently. Attempting to mimic the best of the best of male announcers is an absolute farce.

Stop yelling for no reason. Control your voice, control the tempo.

Stop trying to 'mimic' something and make it 100% your own.

Turning point game in the franchise, culture win, winning a game they didn’t deserve to win and they stuck with it all night, balanced TOI, relied on your big guys to do it for you at the end, scoring through the lineup, road win, a game the old Sens would have lost.

Props to Kenzie Lalonde for calling a hard fought but pretty boring game, there were some chances and some saves and a fight but overall not a pretty game and she called it well, and her post game interview with Brady is all timer.

Didn't stick around past the 1st, and just watched the highlights on SN...listening to Kelly "anyone but the Sens" Hrudeyvwas just f***ing painful! Much prefer Kenzie.

I'm OK with that not being called a kick and I'm even more OK with us pulling off the win anyhow
Fair. Though we all know how Tristan Jarry feels

Cross the what do do with Gaudette bridge when Perron returns. Though, that said, there is nobody on this team currently that is good enough to play with Stützle and Giroux - top 6 RW is a need.

Not saying this is the case, but false praise of someone who is actually good might look like exaggerated or hyperbolic praise, for example "she's the greatest pxp commentator we've ever had"

I think it's possible some people are more likely to comment on her performance because she is a minority in the business, that's not necessarily false praise but might feel like it to someone, shall we say, less inclined to accept women doing pxp. If the overarching point was this additional praise is fueling the push back, I think that's a possibility,

I think she's been pretty good. As others have pointed out, I think her goal calls could improve but that's nitpicking. We've definitely had worse.

I missed the game but watching the highlights I thought it was pretty funny how Greig basically had an identical breakaway chance, made the exact same play got the same rebound and scored instead of ringing the iron this time

jonathan Huberdesu didn’t back check on the game winning goal he was actually just talking to nobody below the Sens goal line because he’s the softest player of his generation and he should be embarrassed to be so rich without an once of effort when the game is on the line.

He’s the Pierre Turgeon of this era.
