The Blackhawks loss makes this thread seem a little silly. But Ottawa has been fantastic recently. If Talbot is healthy, they can absolutely make the playoffs. And they'll be a fun team to watch when they do.

I said it a month ago, and everyone laughed. But they are soon in a playoff position, making big gains the last several weeks.

Nah. The Wings are still lacking top end talent and would've been a playoff pretender at best. Those losses were a blessing in disguise because it confirmed the Wings should be sellers. I was just surprised at some folks celebrating the win like the Sens won the Cup.

Those losses were embarrassing. Almost as bad as losing 5-0 to an AHL team and having your captain try and fight the goalie while being held by a ref.

I actually like the Sens and a lot of their players. They're a fun up and coming team. But it's still nice to enjoy the trolls getting some humble pie.

It's a tough league and long season. Young teams are gonna crap the bed sometimes. It happens.

I'm always amazed at how superstitious hockey players/fans are. Saying "shutout" doesn't cause goals. Doing the wave won't cause your team to lose. I feel like there's people who legit get angry with you if you don't follow their superstitions, which is bonkers to me.

This is why I'm happy that touching the conference title trophies correlates more with winning the Cup because the no touch thing was dumb

It was just a wisecrack. Take it easy. I like what the Senators have done, and they're right where most reasonable fans pegged them: battling hard for a playoff spot. The consistency will come in time. Should be a bright future there.

Sorry I should have clarified it was the orginal joke of the previous poster. It was a play on how leaf fans have been saying they only play well against good teams....

Anyway sens had a stinker, they dont play well when they think they're good. Signs of a young team that stopped doing what has made them successful. We will see if/how they respond.

That wasn't how I interpreted it, but it doesn't really matter.

Yes, happens with Toronto all the time. We routinely have awful games against Chicago, Arizona, Columbus, Montreal... Some teams also just like to play spoiler. It'll come together for Ottawa, but whether they creep in or barely miss this year, I think it has been a successful season for them. You can see the growth in some of their young players.
