holy ****, Pinkerton was released 18 years ago. That's definitely when they peaked. I do like the 2001 green album too.

I like this one featuring Lil Wayne too.

Also, I think its pretty clear that my musical taste has become stuck where it was when I was about 13  The other album I've been listening to again lately? Yourself or Someone Like you. Like Pinkerton, 18 years old.

I like Rob Thomas's solo stuff too. And Celebrity Skin is a great song.

I know Pinkerton is listed as their best album by most long time Weezer fans, but for some reason I'm partial to the Blue Album. "You take your car to work, I'll take my board..."

I heard a joke once about Weezer.

Weezer just released a best of album. It is titled "The Blue Album and Pinkerton."

I don't think either is appreciably better than the other, but they are by far their two best albums.

For sure. I haven't really listened to any of their newer albums.

Good.

You seem like a smart dude. I wouldn't want you giving yourself brain damage.

 Yeah I heard enough with "Hashpipe" and "Beverly Hills" randomly in public to know I didn't want to venture much further. I'm sure there's at least another album are 2 in there as well.

It seems completely beyond reason but those two songs are truly brilliant masterworks compared to some of the stuff they've done more recently.

It's rather mind-blowing how a band can just lose it like Weezer has.

It really, really is. Their first two albums were legitimately really very good, too. It's not like they just put out one album of stuff and were a flash in the pan, forever after. They followed up a brilliant album with arguably an even better one. Not an easy feat.

Rivers Cuomo basically jumped the shark by thinking that, for some reason, he should be embarassed about all of the raw emotion and power on Pinkerton. And then promptly shut himself down and resorted to safe, cookie-cutter *********.

Riff Raff. Now we're talkin'.

H382 - Why did I need to set my resolution to 1080 for a static image? Decent music, just wondering.

As for that EDM stuff, I like tracks that are more loopy and phase in and out different textures. Really lets me sink in, and there's enough trace of dance that it's also quite lively.

Here's an example of what I mean:

Very good headphones music here.

The 1080P comment was just to get the full experience of a higher res picture.

I haven't heard anything like those two songs you've posted before. They are interesting and I can see how the textured sounds would be appealing. Does this have it's own type of genre?

Yeah... he basically is Weezer.

I actually didn't know he had done much of anything else notable.

I don't know if he has. I knew the name though. Just didn't connect it with Weezer. I am about the least knowledgeable music person ever.

edit: ok, I just googled him. If I saw his picture, I'd have know he was the guy from Weezer.

So, I have literally no clue how you happened upon this, but this is ******* gold. Thank you for sharing. So unique and just flawless instrumental work.

It was just one of those things where I happened across it. I have a bit of a commute but have satellite radio and I was fed up with the stations I was listening to -- smacked the dial and it landed on the live version of that song.

Use a resource like AMG Allmusic (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/the-field-mn0000737491). I would imagine you'd start with ambient house or IDM and go from there. Get some old Boards of Canada.

Here's one from a recent album.

Might want high-res for that one.

Welcome aboard. I love this thread to help me discover new, strange music that I would not find otherwise.

BTW - To do a youtube, you wrap it like this (using just the 11 character video code after the equal sign). You can click the youtube button on the editor window as well and insert that 11 character code.

You end up with this:

Thanks for the help. I fixed that up.

Dudde, that's sweet that you're from Cary! I live in the Pittsboro area by the Haw River! It's always nice seeing a fellow Pens fan in Hurricanes country.

I hadn't noticed where you are from. I grew up an hour from Pittsburgh but the job situation had me move here in 97.

Kinda like this band Dope Body.

And, randomly, here's a Dope Body song with some hockey hits.
