Sounds as though Kappo really wants to be the #1 pick. And his coach stated that if NJ wants the best, they should pick him. These statements kinda irk me a little TBH. Why on earth would anyone desire to play in NJ over N.Y. just so they can be the 1st overall pick? Does it really matter that much?

He'd be the first Finnish player to ever be picked #1 overall, that's a big deal.

Finland can have their 1oa later. Aatu Raty and Aaron Kiviharju are the next potential ones on 21 and 23 drafts not to mention Lambert as well.

Its crazy to think we had a Swiss 1st overall before a Finnish 1st overall.

Its crazy to think about since Finland has been pumping good players into the league for awhile now.

You think the NHL draft is crazy, checkout some NFL draft stats - last time a RB or WR was taken #1 overall was the mid 90's. Notre Dame has the most #1 overall picks, but the last one they produced was 1972 ! Alabama has had one #1 overall pick and that was 1948 ! Perennial powerhouses like Texas, Nebraska and UCLA have not produced a #1 overall since the 1980's !

Our fans have been no better to be honest. It has been really disappointing.
Once upon a time, people were the same across, race, religion, political fandom, and sports fandom. Some great people, some good ones, and some bad apples too! However, each group thought themselves to be superior. Turns out they were proven wrong. Repeatedly.

End

I read Hughes is meeting with 12 teams. Everyone knows he is going #1. Worse case scenario he goes #2. It's a waste of time for him.

The writer used Pronman's rankings.

1. Jack Hughes, C, USNTDP

Vitals: 5-10, 168 pounds
Stats: 34G, 78A in 50GP
Kelley’s take: “Just a dynamite player. His ability to play fast and make fast plays — he really raises the bar.”
2. Kaapo Kakko, LW, TPS-Liiga

Vitals: 6-2, 190 pounds
Stats: 22G, 16A in 45GP
Kelley’s take: “He’s a dynamite player, too. Really — blue line in or dot down, he’s incredible. He really has a knack for getting to the net and getting the puck to the net. And if you watch him, he’s a big-goal player.”

Kelly commented on all of the top 10 players. You can't who the Hawks are picking at #3. Chicago is not concerned about waiting 2 years for Podkolzin.

Kakko is not attending the scouting combine.

That’s odd. Thought he was already confirmed going?

Not like it matters anyway. Probably exhausted from so much hockey now, whats the point of now hopping on a plane to fly across half the world to do a few fitness tests. The whole world already knows hes going one or two.

That just tells you he's an competitive athlete.

He wants to be the best, and believes he's the best.
We can all look at his CV and the guy wins.

The team was quite late in back home last night, with everything going and Finland/Helsinki had ranged quite the celebrations for them.

Which is great for us. Either Kakko or Hughes are gonna feel spurned and come to our team with a chip on their shoulder looking to prove the Devils wrong. Great place for us to be.

Not controversial, but I thought he already got on the plane to Buffalo?
That was before his Finish teamates pulled him out of bed to party party PARTAAAYYYY!

(Kidding, I obviously have no clue if this was planned all along or not.)

Good for teams to leave a lasting impression for eventual free agency, lest his time in New Jersey starts to mirror McDavid’s in Edmonton.

& This is honestly good for him, get some rest now so he'll have some time to workout this summer.

These draft summers are so damm broken, u18, WC, combine, draft, dev camps, pre season rookie camps, pre season.
So little time to practise and develop.

That and teams usually bring players into their city after the combine to work them out/do medicals/interview them anyway.

If Kakko knows hes going 1 or 2, there really isn't anything to be gained by going to Buffalo. He can easily swing by both NJ and NY in one swoop.

Kakko will be #2. He seems to be better player and that is pretty good for you. Just love him like everyone in Finland loves and you will get amazing player. There is noway in hell that NJ will drop Hughes anymore as a second. Actually that is best thing ever can happen for Kakko.

Most guys don't go to the WC

But yeah it can be a ridiculous summer
