I’m a Sabres fan who lives in Vancouver . The Canucks broke their playoff course last year and made the playoffs after 9 long years not including the playoff bubble .

The Canucks and their ownership group are far from perfect , but even the Aquillini’s finally owned up to their mistakes and brought in an experienced POHO in Jim Rutherford and hired Patrik Allvin as the GM .

I wish Terry would finally wake up and hire an experienced POHO like Rutherford and we might see this curse end . It’s been such a long 14 years

Canucks tho are having a whirlwind of an offseason to say the least and are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons ,

They just lost Rick Tocchet the raining coach of the year , Theh can’t seem to sign their top prospect in Tom Willander , one of their owners Paulo Aquillini just stepped down , and lots of talk on if Quinn Hughes will be staying long term or get traded to play with his brothers in New Jersey

Terry isn't going to hire anyone that he can't override if he doesn't like their decision. That means anyone with experience isn't coming here. People who have won in the NHL are going to want to have complete control.

Unfortunately the only way out is Pegula selling the team.

To be fair, no GM/President is going to override their owner. On every team that gets you fired. The issue is the degree of control terry wants.

Most owners don’t get called on every transaction or have daily update calls. Some are more hands on, some are less. Terry is probably the most hands on owner in the league…and that is the issue. Your ideal owner is one that is concerned they are being well represented by the on ice product. Not ones that want to be the GM.

The hope is finally finds someone competent to
Run the team so he will step back or he just sells it.

I personally think Thomas Dundon is way more hands on than Terry is in Carolina . Just me personally especially after they have lost some really key personnel especially Donnie Waddell not that long ago , and they traded Rantanen right after they acquired him .

But the difference is Dundon hires experienced people to run the show and he has playoff success

It was just reported in The Athletic league wide poll that that Pegula was 2nd worst owner because he was an absent owner.

Your post goes without saying and we all here have the understanding that owners can either be silent or be involved and the owner has the last say as they own the team(Unless its a corporation like some teams) but we are specifically talking about Pegula here.

You aren't going to get an experienced GM if the owner is telling him how to do his job.

Thats how we are in this situation in the first place but also my response was to a post where the poster wants to bring in experienced management. We aren't going to get experienced management because Pegula wants to have the last say in how the team operates.

It depends what they mean by absent. Absent as not involved or absent as not giving his team the personnel to win.

Buffalo has one of the smallest front office and scouting system in the league. Absent could have different meanings.
