When is the right time to make clear to the players and fan base that there is no accountability, no standard and no expectation or care about success and zero commitment to winning?

Today around 4 or 5?

Did you mean to write that this way? Seems like it'd make more sense at "can't not" instead of "not."

Lawrence is a good QB and Pedersen is a good coach and they won 1 playoff game in 3 seasons.

herbert has had good coaches and not much success.

Saleh is a good coach with Rodgers and it didn't work.

There is a base talent level and scheme fit that has to be in place for most of the team, then elite QB play really starts to matter. That is where good management comes in.

Good QB play is the differentiator when other things are equal.

A good QB can make up some deficiencies. So can a good coach. But those two aren't enough when the roster is lacking largely in some areas.

Honestly, I do feel like the longer this takes that my hope is we are actually doing a search for someone in an advisor role before the shuffling.

I'm almost most certainly wrong, but I've been here this long already as a fan so obviously I've got some coping mechanism going on.

I appreciate that glimmer of optimism. I expect nothing will happen as a counterpoint to that.

I'm pretty confident Karmanos is going to be the GM at some point this summer. How much of a difference that makes when he's answering to Terry and Adams still, probably not much.

I just think they’d want that information out there. They hire Adams without a search. They hire Granato and Lindy without a real search. And they know people are fed up with the current group.

If they’re conducting an actual out of market search for a front office shakeup I’d want to tell people about it.

What mucks it up is that Adams clearly isn’t going anywhere. And that renders just about anything they’d try to sell meaningless anyway. No matter his title. We know what he is.

Its like not releasing the name of a criminal immediately after the crime.

Wait a few weeks or months until the news cycle has changed and people won't be as upset or protest.

Let me clarify:

Good owner + Good GM + Good HC + Franchise QB = playoffs. I think we'd be hard pressed to find where that wasn't true, aside from maybe and odd season or two in the career of a franchise QB.

No difference at all. Does anyone think he will be free to get rid of all the dead weight there? Can he get rid of Appert? Ellis? Forton? Nightingale?, etc? I doubt it. I am sure they will still employ the same collaborative effort from mostly the same people... and Adams will be involved. As it is now, there is no way Adams has absolute GM ability to do what he wants.
With that said, I wonder if Karmanos takes the shot at GM with all those restrictions and preconditions, set up to fail and spoil his name.

What this move would do for Pegula and Adams, is set the clock back to 0. We will have to go through the steps we all know: "XXXX is assessing everything and putting his fingerprint on the team", then "XXXX has to clean up XXXX's mess and that takes time" to "you cant keep firing GMs every X years" to "Let XXXXX hire his own coach this time".

By the time the most optimistic fans, as well as the limited media covering the team get through all the steps to get to where we are now, it will have been another 3-4 years.

And Dahlin will be gone in two

And Dahlin will be gone in two

Dahlin, Tuch, probably Thompson, Byrum (if he isnt engineering his way out already), and Paterka.

These guys will be framed as bad guys, not good enough here, external factors that Sabres' management could not control. Then they will need time to rebuild, and on and on.

I am sooooo sick of this cycle. Sabres fans should be pitchforking and torching the arena at this point, The odds of missing the playoffs these 14 seasons is .00165%. That is one thousandths of a percent or about 1 in 62,500 odds. It is amazing what has been done here.

I was half expecting a late friday announcement and then everyone to peace out and answer no questions.
I’m actually somehow more worried that there wasn’t one.

This isn’t a real organization in any way….and hasn’t been since he hired Adams…but they used to at least pretend. That seems to be too much effort for them now too.
