For the sake of fairness, did a very quick search of our scouts, compared to another team's in minnesota.

While our experience doesn't look great compared to expectations, Minnesota's staff also kind of point to the idea that scouts aren't always going to have superb resumes. I don't think the criticism is completely wrong, but I don't think the resume examination of our guys takes into account the realities of scouting around the league.

Buffalo
Dexter: Bunch of years as collegiate asst
Dunne: Just sabres
Forsberg: Actual experience as HC in SHL and sweden u20. And SHL GM.
Musil: Previously scout for Edmonton
Musser: Some experience in USHL. Also went from Canisius college team manager to NHL scout in 5 years.
Pechonkin: Only sabres
Stein: Longtime redwings scout

Minnesota
Baum: just minn
Berry: Guelph scout, then Minn scout
Chiarelli: Just minn
Godard: BCHL assistant coach 10 years ago. gap. Minn scout
Hamel: scouted for halifax and minn since 06
Palango: canucks 2010-2020, then Minn
Perpich: Just Min

Just speculation but feels like Terry hasnt made the front office moves because the NFL draft has undivided attention and he doesn’t want front office shake ups to distract him. For that reason alone, there should be a POHO in place if the Bills take priority for the pegulas

That’s 100% why. But it makes sense, it’s one of the most important offseason events for the NFL team he owns. It doesn’t matter if they wait to makes changes with the Sabres. It doesn’t matter if they make those changes next week or even the week after. Assuming they even make any.

Lots of reason to hate Pegula but this is a nothing burger.

I don’t know why that would matter. You would just be changing the title of the person waiting to meet with Pegula.

A POHO can handle the GM and/or Coaching search while Terry focuses on the draft.

You might lose out on prime candidate because you didn’t make the switch fast enough. The islanders will have a head start on interviewing candidates for example.

This is assuming he actually is moving on from KA as a GM which obviously might not happen or already has a plan of succession in place

There will still be quality GM candidates, even if the Isles hire one before we do. Same applies to coaches and assistant coaches. We’re not going to struggle to find quality options to interview. Where Pegula struggles is actually hiring the right options. It’s pretty amazing how bad he’s been.

This is assuming of course we actually make changes and the changes include bringing in outsiders.

I’d also say that a POHO that’s not part of the ownership group will still have to consult with the owner before making any changes.

Is there actually talk of this? I don’t think I would even get mad at that. Don’t care enough anymore to do so. But I might just stare into the void for an hour or two contemplating what we used to be.

Other than him being again out of work for doing a bad job behind an NHL bench, no. There is no talk of it from anywhere but here.

Poach front office talent from Florida, Tampa, Colorado, Carolina. Most of them made a quick and sustained rise from bottom feeders to perennial contenders. Not only that, those teams are not afraid to make major roster changes to fit evolving needs.

Get them from Carolina where they already know how to operate under terrible ownership

My only criterion for new management/coaches/players is ZERO CONNECTION TO THE SABRES OR PENGUINS BOTH PAST AND PRESENT.

I don't care if you played here or there. Tell your agent not to call.

I don't care if you've lived om this city or that city. You're application will not be considered.

I don't care if you're currently employed by this organization or that organization and are doing competent work. To the former, here's your pink slip.

I don't care if you've only ever sharpened Lemieux's skates. You're tainted. Get lost.

Also from now on find me guys (management, coaches, especially players) who don't want to be here, but who need the job. The incentive to get out of here the first chance they get should lead to improved performance and production.

To simplify, find out what Pegula wants to do, and do the complete opposite. "Terry thinks we should extend player A." Trade player A. "Terry thinks we should not draft player B." Move up to draft player B. "Terry thinks FA player C embodies the qualities that best exemplifies what it means to be Sabre," Avoid player C like the plague. "Terry like's coach D and would like to hire him." Fire coach D's resume into the sun. "Terry thinks we need more quality burger's at the concession stand," Serve only vegan options. "Terry thnks......." Just f*** what Terry thinks, period.

Scouts are generally the entry level position to the front office, right? Makes sense then that you'd have a high number of first timers in the role.

How does our front office look above the scout level? I'm guessing we have more internal promotions of guys who have only worked for the pegula sabres than other orgs have guys who have only worked in their own orgs.
Housley back would be it for me. I'd be out.
Bylsma is available :naughty::naughty::naughty:

Funny enough, they might actually have the defenseman to play his style now. Not that I would ever want Disco back.
