The Quinn Hughes Homestretch Freakout Thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

Understandably the team thread is not allowing for more Quinn Hughes talk, but it is inevitable to happen until he is signed. May as well corner the market on it now

Reposting Quinn Hughes’ comments, as well as Pat Brisson’s, as a meaningful discussion point.

“This one stings. Love the guys. Love the coaching staff. The whole organization. Yeah, I mean this one really stings. I just felt like we had a really good team. You get through these guys, you never know. But if we had to lose, you want to lose to these guys. These guys are the best. Presidents’ Trophy. So, yeah, it stings right now just because I feel like we had a really great team” - Quinn Hughes

"You know, between brothers, there's always so many conversations. What about this, what about that? And, you know, but we haven't really had any specific about this one perhaps. I mean, those are things that are, you know, it's those are possibilities. I'm not going to deny the fact, but uh when you have three brothers getting together during the summertime or the in the offseason, rarely during the offseason, we have a lot of funny conversations about a lot of funny stuff that is very unique.

“… Itll be a great, you know, fascinating summer, looking forward to the, what we have coming up here in the next two months” - Pat Brisson

Minnesota traded:

• Zeev Buium
• Liam Ohgren
• Marco Rossi
• David Jiricek
• 2026 1st round pick
• 2028 2nd round pick
• 2026 7th round pick

For 5 playoff wins this year

So that stings for them. Oh well. If Minnesota don't get Quinn to sign at least a one year extension, Billy G is on the hot seat. Calculated risks sometimes just don't pay off. For the record I totally can see a scenario where the Wild and Quinn do a one year deal and then he walks the following summer.

Parise in reverse basically.

Dawson Mercer, Simon Nemec, 2026 12th overall, and 2027 1st

You could argue keeping the 2027 1st but why bother even risking it when Guerin put his balls on the table once already to get him; wouldnt shock me if he risks moving Quinn elsewhere knowing full well he wont sign there and takes less, if we hardball

Is this proposal for an extended Quinn?

How much and how is that going to fit? Do we have to move Dougie first?

We are going to potentially get rid of 2 RHD in Dougie and Nemec for one Left handed D? How's that going to work?

It really feels like a very bad idea to me.

One would have to imagine Quinn isnt coming to play for a singular season; so yeah, an extended Quinn, just not at the time of the trade

The rest is why the guys upstairs get paid the big bucks. Id have to imagine Dougie stays in this scenario, money can be saved elsewhere (its only a ~3 million difference between Mercer/Nemec and Quinn, which is covered by the natural rise in cap)

I think Dougie would definitely get moved if Quinn came here. Make salary cap room to spend up front on a winger and balance out the defense style-wise.

Nemec/Casey/Mercer/Picks used in various trades.

Quinn-Pesce
Luke-Kovacevic
Dillon-RHD (ideally can play PK but not a pylon - Connor Clifton homecoming?)

Why keep Dillon over Siegs? Siegs is less expensive younger and does not have neck bolts.

While I like the idea just fine, I could see a world where the prevailing thought is adding another puck moving superstar , and keeping Dougie, allows for our current offense plus some smaller shakeups to activate at a much higher volume than they were

Siegs is easier to move as I am pretty sure he doesn't have trade protection while Dillon does. Might get a good pick or 3rd line winger for Seigs (Dakota Joshua 1 for 1?).

Dillon has lost his edge to my eyes. Siegs is somewhat up and down but isn't totally over the hill yet. Just my thoughts. I'm skeptical that Quinn ends up in NJ so it's probably just a thought exercise anyway.

I'd much rather keep Seigs, just assuming there is more value to gain moving him. I can see Silayev taking over Dillon's role later in the season. He really is a 26-27 season placeholder for Silayev.

When I first signed up for these boards my account got shut down and banned on day one before posting a single thing because a buddy signed onto his account on my computer prior to me signing up. Had to go through emails and really explain why it happened just to be able to get my account back up and running.

Crazy that the technology has gotten worse since then.

Everything (well most things) has, to be perfectly fair.
