A week or two after we got Willow, I had this weird dream where she fell down some steps, and I caught her just before she hit the floor. As I was carrying her out to the car she started having a seizure. Shaking, hyperventilating, eyes rolled back, and eventually shut down. I was FREAKING out shaking her, saying no, stay with me, panic thinking about how to do puppy CPR. She opened her eyes and was fine, and I burst into tears like I never have. I'd take the nightmares I had as a kid, being chased by scary monsters and stuff, over that any day.

It's crazy how much we love them, but how can you help it when they return it in spades? Glad to hear Bernie is fit and fettle again.

Thanks buddy . It was rough leaving him in the morning, hoping he would be feeling better when I returned. Tough to keep the bad thoughts out

Today we had to say goodbye to our baby Gracie after 11 fantastic years. Our home won't be the same without her. 💔

Took the pup to St Pete's, an old quarry I used to go to a lot in my 20's. Perfect place to smoke a bowl, hike, hackey sack, drum circles, chill, hop around on rocks, swim, etc. Whatever your jam is, you can do it here in peace. There's a little bit of magic to this place, and I won't wait so long to come back again. If you ever are in the greater Pottstown PA area, I highly recommend this little slice of heaven.

Stopped for a pup cup at a local mom and pop spot afterwards.

Ended up putting him down this morning, as he couldn't walk anymore. He was my best bud and will be sorely missed. Thank you, everyone, for the kind words. He was still himself to the very end and we spoiled him nicely this last weekend he was with us.
I'm so sorry. It's always so hard to lose a buddy like that.

Emergency vet. Brutus throwing up like crazy. X-rays show distension and what looks like a blockage, but no foreign body visualized. We're still going to open him up and try to find something. He threw up a quarter of a ball that we don't even recognize, so not sure how that's.... whatever

This ain't cheap lol

They went in and found 2 bodies. They closed him up around midnight. After a long nap they said he's in great spirits and is very strong. He cleared out a ton of intestinal fluid afterwards in the form of diarrhea but that's completely predictable with so much fluid visualized on imaging. Food offering at noon, 12 hrs post op, then we can come get him at 2 pm if he handles the food well

I'll tell ya. This shit was pretty f***ing nuts. I was checking on him at home and his belly was soft and pretty normal. Then he started throwing up and when we saw him again before surgery for pats and well wishes, which was about an hr and 15 mins later, his belly had inflated with gas so much. It was hard a d painful to him. Just crazy how quickly hisdisease state progressed (worsened).

Let this be a lesson for everyone, don't take a dose of cope and say "we'll see how he does overnight". If you think something is wrong with anyone, get them help. Waiting around with Brutus easily could have made this so, so much worse with a perforation or toxic megacolon or something. Trust your gut, no pun intended

Not the update we wanted. He continues to throw up and they're keeping him through the evening sucking fluid out of his stomach every 2 hrs with an NG tube

So yesterday night we got updated that he f***ing pulled his NG out which makes sense because he also tries to pull off his gentle lead lol

But the real news was they didn't have too much fluid to suck out the time they checked before he pulled it which is very good. This morning he continues to improve and even got a little bit of breakfast, but he's very nervous they said which probably has a lot to do with him not eating at this point. With no further issues we are on track to bring him home at lunchtime. We'll hear hopefully a final update in a few hours
