I’m really hoping Gorton remains patient here. You could be adding two top end forwards in Kakko and Kravtsov next year. The defense is still a mess. There no need to go sign a Panarin. Let things fall in place properly. Pittsburgh and Washington were still bottom five teams after adding three generational players. Patience, please.

That doesn't help us win. Being a 1st rounder isn't enough. What we need are quality players, and we should (keyword should) be getting a top tier caliber player in this draft. Middle tier 1st rounders are rarely superstar potential special, where Hughes/Kakko could be. Our issue through our window was we never had a true blue main scoring option. Nash was supposed to be that guy, but he wasn't. We had a ton of playmakers, but we struggled to finish constantly. Hopefully our pick here can be that guy. And thankfully the pressure isn't on us, as the Devils will make the choice for us. This could be the first time in a while we have a legit superstar.
