That’s a good question. I don’t know. Smith is a more risky player. Pionk is just not very good at defense. I still think Smith is better suited for the 4th line regardless.

I think DeAngelo's upside as a point getter will be limited by his shot. Total muffin shot. He can walk the line and find a lane but his shot isn't strong enough to create havoc and rebounds in front like most other top OFD.

As long as he won’t be blocking anyone. If we can get rid of one or two of Smith/Staal/Shattenkirk, I would definitely keep him for a few years. If not, I would sign him for one more year.
