My opinion is that they still need a lot more. Celebrini is home run. After that, Smith is going to be a top 6 guy and Eklund already is. Dickinson looks like a future top pairing guy but probably not a true 1. For them to be a real contender, I think they need Schaefer, and Smith would need to develop into the 2nd elite forward piece. All of the cup teams have that.

Mackinnon-Rantanen-Makar
Kane-Toews-Kieth
Crosby-Malkin-Letang
Pasta/Marchand-Bergeron-McAvoy/Chara
Eichel-Stone-Pietrangelo
Kopitar-Carter-Doughty

And on and on.

Is Celebrini-Smith-Dickinson going to reach that level of a trio? I’d venture as to say no- but it’s certainly possible. I wouldn’t exit the rebuild until you’re confident you have those 3 pieces though.

Same for the Hawks. Don’t leave the rebuild until you’re absolutely certain you’ve got Bedard a running mate forward and a true 1D. Levshunov might be that, but I’d say there’s a decent chance he’s just a vg defensman and not a great one. They need that forward to go with Bedard pretty badly though, and I don’t know that they get that in this draft.

There's still all of these people crapping on the sharks for taking Smith over Michkov, even though 6 other teams did as well.

This is the worst and it is extremely obnoxious at this point. At the time no one was so high on Michkov at all, he was seen as high risk and potentially high reward but a big gamble. Now that he is in the show and doing well all the incredibly insecure Smart Marks are coming out and trying to convince everyone that they're soo much smarter than everyone else.

Long live HF!

so far SJS rebuild seems to be the most balanced. focusing on the most important aspects of setting up a core. and doing so in pretty quick fashion too. Askarov is a huge get. It has the hallmarks of the Penguins rebuild. findign that Selke level centerman a la Staal and Hischier is goign to be their next step. After the Devils' this one is probably the one I'm most interested in.

Hagens, Martone, and Misa?
You don't have them as future top line forwards?

Maybe top line forwards, but outside of Hagens I don’t think Misa or Martone are going to be elite forwards that you look at as the #2 on a championship team. I just don’t see a Rantanen, Pasta, Toews, etc. type in that group.

To be fair I think Celebrini, even with his high offensive potential, will be that Selke level centre, though adding another wouldn’t hurt

Celebrini projects to be our Selke contender.
