Nepotism blah blah blah. Maybe it helps that I’m not in Pittsburgh but it feels like for everyone against selecting Porter because nepotism you could counter that if his name wasn’t Porter you’d be fine with him.

For me, he was one of the seven players I was OK with at 17. They drafted two of those players. The day in between made for some interesting discussion but it’s hard for me ti find fault.

Bullshit

You dont have to like his game but that is total nonsense
Yeah that post was disingenuous. You can complain about nepotism, but to pretend like he wasn’t one of the top 5 BPA on basically everyone’s draft board is fiction. And at a position of major need.

It’s ok to prefer we took someone else, but it’s absolutely not a reach.

Again, I get going cover corner. They are valued way more than safety around the NFL.

I just wish that he looked more dynamic on film. And the handsy part I worry is not as much from bad habits but more part of not looking dynamic and using that long reach to make up for it.

I am not arguing against his being value at 32 though.

Possible best draft since 2002 coming up?

Just for Tomlin to lose a playoff game with bad clock management or a trick play for fun?
Don't forget Canada.

I didn't see anyone say it was a reach.

But as far as BPAs go ... all those folks were also pretty certain that Levis was going top 10.

Somebody here called it earlier. The Steelers don't have that much leverage to trade the pick because they can trade with Arizona (or even Detroit) to take Levis.

I would have been pissed to make that trade and then lose out on JPJ or Branch.
Welp, would have had a shot at Branch.

Now my hopes are up he falls to 49.

I know they need an edge, but to lock down the secondary would be incredible.

He’s a shutdown corner, not a ball hawk type. Two completely different styles. Diggs had a ton of picks a couple of years ago, but was atrocious in actual coverage. So if you only care about interceptions, you’re not looking at the whole picture. Porter didn’t allow a TD and only allowed 15 completions all season.

He could wind up sucking, sure, but he’s not a bad option at 32.
That’s because you’re talking about Big 10 receivers. Not exactly play makers.

Everyone and their brother seems to love the JPJ pick. End of the day, snagging Jones and JPJ is a big win.

I haven’t spent much time looking beyond 32. What do people think about the Georgia Tech end? Is he a fit in what I assume is still the Steelers defensive scheme? Like a Cam type?

Would they go Ringo if he’s there? My guess is no but he could be value.

All this assuming Branch is gone.
