OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Post Draft - Still dont need no QB

in 2025s nfl you are better off throwing stuff like randolph / howard at the wall and seeing if it sticks tahn signing washed up vets to big money deal based on their past glories. if it doesnt work you end up in a draft position that affords you a better chance of nabbing an actual difference making qb

it’s a transition year. Barring Howard showing real promise (Purdy level) they’re going with a QB in round 1 next year.
Was this supposed to be a transition year before Khan botched the QB position or did it become one after another crappy off season?

I would have been furious with either of those. Both are the equivalent of putting a band-aid on a gunshot wound to the chest.

I was thinking that Cousins could have/be had for a 4th round pick or something, so I wouldn't have been super mad about it. Anything more than a 4th and I'm at annoyed level.

That and whatever cap hit we'd have to take on. Granted, we're not in a bad spot right now. But that's no reason to make bad decisions just because we have room for the moment.

I would have taken his contract for draft capital like Osweiller but not interested in trading even a 6th for him

What are you suggesting they should’ve done?
-Drafted Sanders in the later rounds
-trade for Cousins (it is probably time to move on from Rodgers)
-outbid the Jets for Fields

Going into the season with Rudolph and a sixth round draft pick as your starting quarterback is beyond incompetent

No teams wanted Rudolph. He signed a cheap deal even for a backup.

Fields said he chose the jets because he never got over Tomlin benching him and wasn’t coming back
Sanders is a poor mans Pickett
Cousins had 1 td down over 6 games and cost the Falcons a playoff spot

1) clearly they didn’t like/want Sanders. They were far from the only team that felt that way.
2) cousins is terrible and taking on his contract is beyond negligent
3) they made their bed when Tomlin wrongly benched him and never gave him another chance

If you want to blame Tomlin for benching Fields, I’d agree with you. I thought it was stupid and short-sighted at the time, but in the whole scheme of things he probably wasn’t the long-term answer anyways.

All of those are just as gross as we currently have.
And Sanders seems to be another AR type without the resume to back it up.

There is not enough QB talent in the league and we're getting what we paid for- a mediocre QB room.
Want to know what's worse? Paying significant dollars for a mediocre QB room.

Also re: Fields

Fields had two horrible games against the Cowboys and Raiders before he got benched. If it weren't for a gift from the refs overturning a horrible redzone interception in the 2nd quarter of the Raiders game, Fields damn well might have been benched at halftime in that game.

Fields had one good half against the Colts and an OK game against the Chargers but fell apart afterwards and basically sucked as a starting QB. As bad as Wilson turned out to be, he was still better than Fields. The Steelers FO must see things similarly, because they let Fields walk for basically peanuts.

You ever have to wait for your significant other to get ready to go out for an important event that you are late for?

Aaron just pick an outfit already and let's go.

Yes, you look pretty in that one, it is time.
