OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Post Draft - Still dont need no QB

Also re: Fields

Fields had two horrible games against the Cowboys and Raiders before he got benched. If it weren't for a gift from the refs overturning a horrible redzone interception in the 2nd quarter of the Raiders game, Fields damn well might have been benched at halftime in that game.

Fields had one good half against the Colts and an OK game against the Chargers but fell apart afterwards and basically sucked as a starting QB. As bad as Wilson turned out to be, he was still better than Fields. The Steelers FO must see things similarly, because they let Fields walk for basically peanuts.
Fields turned the Steelers down. Short of the franchise tag Fields wasn’t coming back

All of those are just as gross as we currently have.
And Sanders seems to be another AR type without the resume to back it up.

There is not enough QB talent in the league and we're getting what we paid for- a mediocre QB room.
Want to know what's worse? Paying significant dollars for a mediocre QB room.
Even calling it mediocre is a stretch - the QB room is dog sh**

The Steelers are not trying to waste this season or they wouldn’t have met with Rodgers.

The season will be a transition because of Khan’t stupidity. He botched the WR position last off season, dicking around with Aiyuk. Now, the team is sitting around waiting for Aaron Rodgers. Not back up plan in sight.

Rooney, Tomlin and Khan are awful. Monumental levels of stupidity.

It appears you just want to complain. I’d suggest a therapist instead of the Steelers thread, but do you.

The Steelers are rebuilding.

This is what rebuilding teams do. Sign starter/back-up tweeners or old washed stop gaps that they don't have to commit big money and/or term to.

don't forget the steelers had a first round grade on Rudy.

lol…and that tells you all you need to know about why they need to tank this season: they can’t be trusted to select a QB who isn’t a consensus top 3-4 pick…he has to fall their lap…they need a top five draft pick next season badly imo
they have a new gm and oc and increased scouting

This organization is a f***ing circus with no one above a high school reading level making decisions.

There is just too much nonsense with this team and fan base.

-Will Howard will be a good quarterback in the league
-Mason isn’t a bad starting QB
-the team is intentionally entering a transition year (not because of Khant’s stupidity)

And so on

So do you want them to continue with the status quo - mediocre reg season results with no chance of contending?

The team has dealt with bottom 5 qb play for years now. The draft provided 1 guy in Dart who is probably going to be Qb3 his rookie year in round 1. FA had a 1 year wonder in Darnold and a bunch of rejects.
This year was always going to be a transition year this was the 1st year Khan got to play the comp game and he will probably play it every year like bmore does.
They spent 2 drafts fixing the offensive line and this draft was about the d line and building depth so if Cam and TJ need a break or want to be on a snap count the defense doesn’t die.

The podcasts don't bother me. As long as he's not breaking the law and hurting people, he can believe what he wants, go on whatever podcast he wants, etc. If he signs and works hard here, that's all that matters to me.

I think what is really destructive is coming in the locker room and not working hard, not showing up, giving up on plays, etc. It's the crime Pickens committed, DJ too. The eccentricities when a player is out of the building isn't as much an issue if the player locks in when appropriate.

Wait why so much time and effort and media circus for someone thats not even good anymore? I dont care about off the field but he was terrible with the jets and last few years at Green Bay.

I could understand the hype if this was a Brady caliber player but Rodgers?

at this point, i don't think he's even willing/able to put in the work needed.

Because the alternatives are Mason Rudolph and Will Howard, who are even worse than Rodgers.

Who’s a Brady caliber player if not Rodgers? He has the 2nd most MVPs all time (most recently in 2020). While I’m not suggesting he’s at that level anymore and I disagree with his politics, he’s absolutely a Brady caliber QB.

With Rogers or any reasonable alternative is this a Superbowl caliber team? With Tomlin handcuffing the offense I doubt that it is a SB winning team even with Brady in his prime. But with this team?

The nest hope that we have is that Rogers screws them over and that they do go with Rudolph or the rookie. Rogers is good for at least a couple of wins over that. And if you can't have other than a lottery pick shot at a SB ring, we should be hoping for crash and burn.
