OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Post Draft - Still dont need no QB

Yeah I'd struggle to see Love as definitely the guy I want when running an equal TD-Int ratio in the playoffs. He's had the most consistently solid supporting cast too, which means his weaknesses haven't been drawn into such fine comparison as the others.

I assume Tua would be last for everyone because of the injury history. Other than that, I'd struggle to pick any of them definitely over the others.

They said we’d sign Rodgers once the Jets released him.

They said the Steelers will sign him by the draft

They said he would sign once we knew their schedule

What is the next fake date that Rodgers will sign?
I keep seeing article after article the Steelers are willing to wait lol. After Fields stiffed them, what choice do they have?

What was SOS end up being for Pitt last year?

Hidden factor in this schedule is that that rarely play well at the Jets, rarely play well at Chicago, and rarely do well in LA.

For examples, our last game on the road vs each opponent:

2021 37-41 L @ LAC. Chargers put up 41 on Steelers D. Herbert was 30/41 for 382. 3TD. 1 INT. Also, 9 rushes for 90 yds.

2022. 20-27 L @ NYJ. Zach Wilson single-handedly outgained & outscored the Steelers, until garbage time from Pickett after Trubisky was benched.

2021 29-27 W @ Chicago. Needed a late FG for a last-second comeback win vs a Bears team that went 6-11 that year. Before that, I think Steelers had a decades long win drought in the Windy City.
The game vs the Bears was in Pittsburgh. they haven't won in Chicago since 1995.

If you could get any one, and had to get one, of Purdy, Lawrence, Tagovailoa or Love, which one would people want?
If I'm building a team, Lawrence, he has insane raw talent and would flourish in an organization that could get him the tools he needs and properly develop him. If I were in compete now mode, Love, easily.

Purdy for me. I honestly do believe Lawrence is average processor of the game. THe better weapons you give Purdy, the better the team is going to be. It's like an engine block...all that matters is the strength and stability of it, and you can build around that to generate more and more power.

Lawrence was so physically gifted he never had to learn the nuances of playing QB...Purdy did. And if you want to talk about career reps of throwing a football, Purdy got Lawrence by thousands. I truly think that matters for a QB.

Love and Purdy would be 1A and 1B, Lawrence a distant 3rd, and Tua an even larger distant 4th due to the concussion concern. Without the concussion stuff, I'd probably take him over Lawrence TBH.

Wouldn't feel like "Great. We have our QB for the next decade" with any of them, though.

Have always thought Lawrence doesn’t seem “natural”. All those gifts and it feels very mechanical and robotic for him to play quarterback. Not in a good way.

There’s just like a lack of natural feel for the game or something.

I think for this team, I’d go with Love. It’s tough not putting Purdy ahead of him because he’s been to a Super Bowl and played well. But I think you take him away from Shanahan and the avengers type of supporting cast he had in SF and you wouldn’t be happy with his contract.

Lawrence came into an awful situation and he still could be good but right now he’s living off of his generational prospect label. He may have peaked as a freshman in college.

Tua is just way too injury prone and it’s tough to look past that and some of the other red flags with him.
