OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Post Draft - Still dont need no QB

And the way to work on it is to do it. Luckily he has probably the best pass blocking RB in the league to help teach him. His pass catching is fine. He just didn't see the ball a lot as a receiver. He was targeted 25 times and caught 23. In his college career he was targeted 35(!) times and caught 29 of them.

Johnson is getting Najee's carries. Dude is going to get starter workload, I guarantee it. Only way he doesn't is if he starts fumbling the ball and Warren stops.
I fully expect Johnson to be the bell cow in 26 and Warren to be elsewhere not so sure Johnson will get Najaee carries in 25 hope you’re right

If they give Warren the ball enough where he's eating what Najee did this year, that doesn't spell good news for us with how he fumbles.

If true, second straight year they'll end with a total gauntlet. Good luck with that Bills-Ravens-Dolphins-Lions-Browns-Ravens stretch.

Disgusting. Not quite as bad as last year, but pretty gross. At least there's no short week bullshit with the Ravens again.

Eh we’ll see. It’s not like the Steelers are gonna be any good but the Dolphins don’t really scare me at all. Browns don’t scare me. Ravens usually are a split.

The Lions are good but we’ll see how they handle losing both coordinators.

Oh they can get wins - Dolphins at that time of year in Pittsburgh is ideal in particular - but there's going to be some sore bodies and the risk of attrition coming home to roost looms large again imo. Only time there that won't play it hard are the Dolphins. Hope the Ravens have nothing to play for in the final week as that's the last game you want before the playoffs. Long ass time from the bye too.

They said we’d sign Rodgers once the Jets released him.

They said the Steelers will sign him by the draft

They said he would sign once we knew their schedule

What is the next fake date that Rodgers will sign?

The thing is...we saw it on the field with Pickens.

I don't really care to argue whether Tomlin could have done a better job of managing him, but is it really that hard to believe Pickens was showing up to games late when he puts it out there for the whole world to see on Sundays?

Dude's a headcase. If someone can get through to him or at least keep him happy enough he doesn't cause too many problems, they are going to have one heck of a WR. But he's always going to be a headcase.
I don't care if he was traded, I don't like the same excuses every time. He wasn't someone that had off field issues like Brown, or thought he was great and was ass like Claypool or a whiny baby that walks off and mails it in like Diontae. He was mostly pissed with how he was used and he has a legit case for that.

Arthur Smith was an absolute shit OC imo, there were far too many times he wasted drives trying to run through a wall that wasn't working and then would finally give in to throwing the shit out of the ball but by then, you're not even in a rhythm as a QB so you're prone to interceptions and the other team is going to read that shit and cover the not so many targets the team had last year.

Also, he got f***ed over a ton for interference calls and he was pissed, this is when a coach is supposed to pull the lad aside and get him in line to relax, but instead he just let him escalate to shoving matches with the other team. That's on a coach, imo. If you can't reign in players and you trade them away every f***ing time, that doesn't really say you are the right bloke for the job for a team that is trying to build a winner and will be doing it with young players coming in that need to make an impact and if you can't guide them and lead them when they have some issues, you likely f***ing suck at your job mate - like Mike does.

I don't think George was someone that wasn't fixable. I think a good off season with sitting down and getting him to buy into the DK and GP duo meaning both will be used a lot to make plays and make it hard for the other team to watch both, now they're hoping Roman "IR" Wilson is actually something and Calvin Austin from the shire is going to have his glow up. I don't dislike either of those players btw, but it's just one shit show after another. I don't hate Pickens at all, I hope he thrives and shows he can mature and had the Steelers given him some better guidance, they could have had what Dallas is going to get, that's what I am expecting out of GP in Dallas. I don't think he's going to flame out like Brown or Johnson or be a crippled mess like Juju (he was done dirty under Tomlin too, as well as garbage OC's).

It just sucks, in 2020 he f***s up big (2019 was just a mess of a draft year too, Devin Bush lol) with wanting a WR with very little time left for Rapelisberger and no succession plan that they were comfortable with because Ben was his usual loser self towards Rudy, Tomlin then treated Rudy like shit (then for some reason Rudy comes back, still don't understand that one) and it was clear in 2020 that Tomlin was never going to give Rudolph a fair shot so why the f*** even take Claypool over Hurts that year? I will never understand that move, it starts with Tomlin wanting a WR instead of a f***ing QB when they should have drafted a QB, so they whiff on Hurts. Then they get Kenny Small hands and he's now on his 3rd team and likely a 4th team soon. Now GP is also gone for a 3rd and the cycle just keeps continuing, they don't want to fix it, they just want to keep kicking the can down the road until someone is able to just be just dumb enough to be Tomlin's type.

At this point, keeping TJ Watt is moronic. There's no reason at all to keep him. Rodgers isn't going to do anything for this team that makes maximizing the best years of Watt's worthwhile, at 41yrs old (42 in Dec), yeah definitely not. Let's remember, Russell Wilson's mobility wasn't all that great, Rodgers is worse, they needed a bloke that can move like Fields.

I'm just so f***ing annoyed. At least the Pens now have some light at the end of the tunnel, not sure what the Pirates will do but I am sure Nutting will f*** it up like he always does, but the Steelers, holy f***, they latched on to mediocrity being mistaken for success under Tomlin harder than the Pens did with Sullivan the last 7 seasons.

Who said this? The organization has been very open about the fact they have not talked to him since he came to the stadium. Kaboly said Rodger probably isn’t signing before August.
Now I don’t believe he signs here. I believe he waits until an injury to a SB contender happens. He had a better supporting cast with the jets on offense than he will here

Eh, we will see is correct, but if you listed the 5 best teams in the NFL heading into the season, they play 4 games in 6 weeks against them. If you don't recognize that as a tough stretch I don't know what to tell you.

Ok thanks for telling me.

If you have zero chance of competing for a title, why have the desire to be competitive? This isn't hockey, 1 or 2 down years is enough for a competent front office to build a championship contender in the NFL.

Every Steelers fan should root for L's.

I am all for a 6-11 season but we are just conditioned to expect 10-7 and a wc loss. The organization is already expecting that so they are gearing up for a trade up

What do you call not running routes, not blocking on run plays, showing up to games late? Dude's immature, selfish, and a bad teammate. I don't care if he was misused. You show up and play hard for your teammates. He didn't.

We'll see if someone else can get through to him. Based on past history, chances aren't great.

During the whole season. He’s the new JJ Watt.
