Why? I get there's a big need at WR but if the BPA is a G - particularly a G/T who might offer some insurance against Jones busting - why the anger?

Yes. Dealing with press coverage, getting rerouted, catches outside his frame. Maybe they're nothing, maybe they're a big deal.

Hmm yeah that would give me a little pause. Whatever they do, I’m with you that I hope they don’t put themselves in the position of having to take a WR. That just rarely ends well for this team.

There are enough areas of need where they just need to get good value, whether that’s at DL or CB or WR or whatever.

They will sink or swin with the O line of young players
The only question is does Daniels get brought back and they take issac.
Dulac has been pretty consistent with the idea the Steelers will sign a wr early in FA Khan has been chasing wr 2 for a year he will overpay if he has to in free agency. I also think they sign a cb in free agency like Murphy or Davis
I am hoping they trade minka for picks this is a good safety class
I do hope Jones and company work with duke on their own maybe seek therapy like warfs did

Because they've used a boatload of picks in the last 2 drafts on OL, and continuing to do that rather than being patient with the guys they've drafted would be a horribly misguided idea.

The OL is a position that 100% should be coming from UFA if they want to improve it.

Drafting a G wouldn't be a lack of patience with the high picks, it'd be finding a heir to Seumalo and maybe delaying McCormick starting one year. Besides, haven't you posted in support of keeping Moore and making Jones a swing tackle?

I'm not in love with the idea jumping up and down for it, but if great talent slides unexpectedly?

Totally disagree. A good/great OL is built through the draft. Very few good/great offensive lineman make it to FA.

The guys that do are the Seumalo's who are past their prime or injury prone and mediocre at best. Or a Dan Moore or Chuks Okorafor type. Guys that are backups on a good team.

They can always move someone like Fautanu to guard, or even Jones. Or if they took a guard like Booker, they need guards badly. Seumalo is old and sucks and they don't have a RG. McCormick to me is mediocre at this point, though I agree "young" and learning from an NFL perspective, but I would haven't a problem with replacing him or Seumalo.

Their need for a WR is significantly more pressing that a heir to Seumalo IMO. You can also get good G prospects with 2nd or 3rd rounders, using a 1st on one is a reach unless it's a truly great G.

I also think re-signing Moore and making Jones a swing tackle is exactly what they should be doing. It's being "patient" by keeping Jones and not using more picks to replace Jones, but it's also spending money and improving the team today.

I don't hate the idea of Egbuka, I'm just... ambivalent, I guess. I know there's no perfect prospects at 21 but their style is screaming out for a large and in charge WR and while Egbuka isn't small, he's not that either.

Tbh, while I'm pushing this shit around, I don't love WRs in R1 as if you're patient, you can find stupendous ones later on. It's such a deep position these days in the NFL. Yeah, sometimes you need to slap a patch on the bleeding right now, but you can do that in FA also and in terms of building, there's so many routes they can go for BPA as mentioned. Hell, what if Sanders slides? Would you?

What if someone offers a really good deal to move up?

But you can remove the pressingness of that need in FA. That need is artificial. You can get good WR prospects with 2nd or 3rd rounders too.

And removing Jones from game rotation massively heightens the probability of spending more picks down the line to replace Jones. It's definitely "patient" rather than patient.

Who said Tomlin doesn’t have a good coaching tree?

Paying Moore any amount of money doesn’t help the team. Moore had 4 years playing
lt and still sucks. Let him get 12-15 million aav elsewhere cook is probably the swing ot
McCormick and Anderson are capable of playing LG well. They signed 4 RG body types like Nester to future contracts. Mccloum can fill in at c and guard

Who is this? You defended Dan Moore for years on here. Said he was at least an average LT. Who has your password.

I'm not totally out on a G early. As I've been saying for years, you build from the inside out and this team forgot that at some point. Khan has brought that back and I'm glad. But they better be real freaking good if you take one in R1. It's just not a premium position. You can fill it cheaper in FA than other positions and get still good talent lower in the draft.

I still think he is average but you don’t pay for average especially with 2 1st round picks at OT. I believe he’s going to be paid elsewhere just like Najaee

Ideally the draft is some combination of WR-CB-DL in the fist 3 picks, but we don't know how the board is going to break. I'd rather draft a great OG than an OK DL. All things equal, though, yes, it's further down on the list.

Ideally the sign a wr in free agency and have wr 2 taken care of can’t bank on hoping to draft a wr

I don’t know nearly enough about Egbuka right now to have a definitive opinion on him, but are there questions about how he’ll handle a move to the outside?

If so, then I’d have a similar opinion that I had about Roman Wilson. There’s nothing wrong with the player, but if their best shot at success is in the slot then I would just question the fit in an Arthur Smith offense.

Egbuka can play on the outside just fine. I’ve watched him play for 4yrs now.
