I know it’s hyperbolic to get upset about a backup QB signing, but WTF. This guy clearly sucks. Would much rather get a developmental player in the QB3/practice squad role.
I think the biggest kick in the balls that I can remember is the Baltimore Ravens running for 299 yards in a playoff game. To me, that represents what I would consider basement floor. Far cry...

Feel free to say I'm reading into nothing here, but this sounds like "we know we need a QB" from Tomlin.
Does that mean the end of Kyle Allen?
Unreal they wouldn't want Allen back.

Personally (and keep in mind I watch very little CFB) I love Jackson Dart, but I have no idea if he is Patrick Mahomes nor Johnny Manziel.Which is why most people think the trade up in 26 go with Fields in 25. Maybe they fall in love with Dart Mccord this year
Neither; not a viable starting QB and you can’t even pretend like he is a Johnny Football type of outlier.Personally (and keep in mind I watch very little CFB) I love Jackson Dart, but I have no idea if he is Patrick Mahomes nor Johnny Manziel.
Its a future contract like a practice squadSkylar thompson lmao. We are a very unserious team

There's gonna be scheme concerns too, similar with Matt Corral in the 22 class. I think he could help himself with a good Senior Bowl.I've been hearing about him for a while cos of his stats. I'm a bit leery of all the draft reports talking about processing/pressure problems, but I wouldn't hate him as a day 3 developmental guy.
I agree. Dan Rooney (the grandfather) had the balls to do the right thing. Had always heard that Dan wanted Noll to change coaches on the staff after 1988; Noll reluctantly agreed. After 1991, Dan wanted more changes to the coaching staff; Noll said "I'm done" (Noll's health issues began not long after he retired, so how much longer would he have coached had Dan not pushed him out is debatable). This franchise misses Dan Rooney much more than anyone could imagine.Daniel Martin Rooney is his full name, which helps people make the distinction between he and his grandfather.
I agree his father is a clown that has ruined the reputation of this org, but his grandfather is the man who built the team into the revered franchise it used to be.
Dan had no problem telling a legendary coach like Noll to hit the road when the game passed him by - few people know that because Dan let Noll retire with dignity rather than fire him.
Unlike AR2, Dan had the courage to make tough calls and not only told Noll to beat it, he fired his own brother when he felt he was holding back the org.
So I suppose the fate of the franchise greatly depends on which of the two he takes after.

Art II has run this franchise into the ground. The top franchises are laughing at them, but Art II doesn't care, he lives in a cocoon, happy to collect the revenue from the National NFL TV deals and go 10-8 every year, maybe a Wild Card appearance in which they get blown out. He's just trying to live off the family legacy that Art Sr and Dan built; hasn't done a damn thing since he took over. He would rather be proven right than to do the right thing (Tomlin is the same way).
Isn't there anyone in that family (Rooney's or the MacGinleys) or the minority partners asking Art II; "What the bleep are you doing are you doing to this franchise? This is one of the NFL's legendary franchises, you're bleeping it up."
Dan the son, is learning from Art II, the father. I'm skeptical much of anything will be different when Dan III takes over, whenever that is. I hope I'm wrong, but I've been following this team for too long.....Lol
Who knows pro wise but mateer is gonna BALL OUT at Oklahoma next year.Neither; not a viable starting QB and you can’t even pretend like he is a Johnny Football type of outlier.
With the transfer portal who knows who will emerge as prospects in 2026 apart from Arch. One guy I’m intrigued by is John Mateer - he just transferred to Oklahoma as the #1 QB in the transfer portal rankings.
You have a point with Art Sr., we tend to overlook that since he was held in high regard and the team did start winning those Super Bowls in the 1970s. He kept hiring his drinking buddies to be the coach and it never worked out. The team only began to gain credibility after Dan took over the franchise in the 1960s; they stopped trading multiple early picks for has beens and/or never was's.As long as the Dynamic Duo of Failure remain in control of this org, I have zero doubt they will continue to stain the legacy Dan Rooney built.
There is zero doubt in my mind Tomlin is a fraud, and he’s proven that again and again for the last 15 years.
AR2 is a coward and nothing like his father, who again had balls to make big decisions when the time came.
So we are on the same page so far.
However where we disagree is on DMR.
Yes AR2 has proven to be an incompetent owner like his namesake - Art Rooney was a shitty owner that had no clue how to build a roster and the Steelers were a laughingstock under his thumb.
Dan wasn’t like his father though right?
He wasn’t content to watch the org be a laughingstock and he turned himself into arguably the most influential owner in NFL history.
Just as Dan wasn’t like his father, we can always try to find hope that DMR isn’t like his.
If we can’t do that - why even bother anymore TBTH?
Maybe Rooneys named Dan are good luck for this franchise and Rooneys named Art are bad luck.

I guess I'm just cynical; hopefully Dan III has learned from Art II about what not to do. Wait and see.
Tomlin has been a fraud, but unfortunately Art II doesn't see it and the media/some in this fan base keep lapping it up like he's God's greatest gift to football coaching.
Not a surprise. It’s frustrating that they didn’t pull the plug on Wilson before the season was lost, but it is what it is.Kaboly: Russell Wilson, Arthur Smith Had Rocky Working Relationship
While Russell Wilson was Mike Tomlin’s choice, it doesn’t sound like he was offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s. Though the team pivoted to Wilson mid-season after Justin Fields led the Steelers to a 4-2 start, a new report sheds light that Wilson and Smith didn’t see eye-to-eye, leading to a...steelersdepot.com
