OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Ploff wins?!? Fire Tomlin

Any predictions on what the Steelers do next year?

What they'll actually do?

*Keep Tomlin
*Scapegoat Austin, bring in some other jabroni DC that doesn't matter
*Keep Smiths (Arthur and Danny)
*Fields as QB1 on a multi-year agreement, sign Minshew or reunite with Rudolph as QB2
*Go overkill on WR, keep Pickens somehow despite the train veering off the tracks, draft a 1st round WR and a splashy FA
*OL counting on internal improvements and health, and another FA signing. Will be counting a lot on the returns of James Daniels and Fantanu

*Continue spending obscene $ on like 4 defensive players, just defer more cap there to make it work
*Bring back DeShon Elliott

*9-8, eliminated in late December or early January again. Pickens sideshow and talks of throwing kitchen sink at trading up in 2026 draft to get a new QB. Likely a ton of noise about the Penn State QB Allar.

I like how Tomlin isn’t even trying to take timeouts cause he knows they are cooked.

did you notice how he took a TO on defense in balt's last drive? thinking they could get off the field after stopping them on 1st down.

ravens scored a td with no timeouts left with 2 seconds on the clock

Tomlin and austin both have years left contracts, they’ll be back. Smith might be gone if someone foolishly gives him a hc chance. We’ll run it back with the same staff and pretty much the same roster with some minor alterations, harris probably the biggest one gone. With next years schedule i actually have them going under 500. In 26 theyll overdraft a qb and waste a few more years.

There is no way Austin isn't a fall guy, and I can't imagine he was making more than $1M/year. It's well worth eating $2M or whatever to take some heat off of Mike and Art.

I don’t think they draft a wr in round and sign a splashy free agent and Daniels is a free agent. I would bring him back and trade issac. Definitely agree about fields and trading up for qb in 26 its a deeper class. I do think they bring in a new o line coach and move off Austin

It isn’t going to happen but I don’t recall anything like this in prior years.

Maybe they trade him but most likely they blame the flawed roster. The only hope I have is they decide to get into the 21 century and move money from defense to offense

Why does it say 34-17 loss?

Also, whoever gave tomlin a no trade clause is a moron

Fields as QB1 will have folks here longing for the days of Russell Wilson. Fields can run no doubt, but he can't pass and his IQ is in the vicinity of his uniform number. As as 3rd & 1 running specialist he's fine, though way overpaid for such a limited role. But nobody in their right mind wants him in any bigger role.

And if he ends up being bad enough that people are longing for Wilson, then hurray because our draft position is probably a lot better and they can actually address the QB situation long term.

I said it before the year and I’ll say it again now, what is the point of Russell Wilson or a guy like him? He’ll never get you where you where you need to go and isn’t a long term option but may be just ok enough that you don’t bottom out. Maybe it was worth a shot just to see what this team could do with ok QB play but clearly that’s not enough.

Trade Tomlin to the Raiders for 6 overall and draft Mason Graham. Hire Ben Johnson from the Lions. Sign Tee Higgins or Chris Godwin. Trade for Will Levis. Draft Tyler Warren and Cam Skattebo. Win Superbowl. That simple. Then I woke up and realized we don’t like simple.

In a league where Mishew is a starting Qb Fields can be a low end starter. You can do a rpo system like hurts give him 2 big body receivers and let him play.
My biggest concern is Arizona makes Murray available and Tomlin is

I definitely wasn't advocating for keeping Wilson around. It's just that of the 2 QBs currently on the roster, they add up to zero good options.
