OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

I agree with you on Trice but I'm not sure I agree on Bishop. Bishop has looked really impressive when he has played and seems like a guy who can overtake Echols for the starting slot CB spot. They will need to draft an outside CB2 though, I've always assumed you need to use a 1st or 2nd to get that but maybe I'm overestimating the investment needed to get a CB2.

Bishop's splash plays were great. I am suspicious that a deep dive into the rest of his tape would show a lot of not being where he needed to be. I wonder whether the team mightn't have similar feelings given their usage of him at the end of last season and the acquisition of Echols.

Also CB2 - iirc, a study found that 50% of pro bowler CBs were taken in the first round, 25% on day 2, and the rest in day 3. However, that study doesn't show you just how quickly they became a dude there, which is kind of key if you're drafting for need.

So let's summarize:
  • Steelers make offer
  • Rodgers initiated a 6 hr meeting on sahside
  • Rodgers bought a bunch of Steelers merch from a local vendor
  • Rodgers got together for a staged photo op with Metcalf in LA
  • Rodgers put a bid in on a home in Pittsburgh (I heard this one on the fan and couldn't tell if it was real or not)
  • Rodgers hasn't signed yet
Why is this whole situation so f***ing weird?

Once the initial wave of free agency passed, there really isn’t a pressing deadline for this to have a resolution. I guess the draft at the end of the month will serve as one.

Ok, we are up in the Mock Draft:

DJ Giddens
2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Kansas State RB DJ Giddens

or

Brayshul Tuten
Giddens. He is the guy I'd like them to take.

Why the f*** is that loser piece of shit even an option. That’s where it starts and ends for me.

I mean he’s an anti-vax super hippy weirdo that has an attitude with football, but I don’t know that he’s some true piece of shit. Unless he has a domestic/ SA past I didn’t remember.

Complaining about social media on social media deserves a tip of my hat to you sir.
seems like a pretty large and obvious distinction between an anonymous message board and social media where you curate your entire life for followers, but i guess your mileage may vary

I don’t know if I would call him a POS, but his estrangement from his family is weird. However, there are two sides to every story.

I care more about the football side of things and his penchant for trying to play GM and throwing coaches and teammates under the bus.

A player agent said this last August:

"There is complete disarray over there. Look at how they’ve handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible.”

AR went on the Pat McAfee show and said he believed it was Reddick’s agent… it was all BS etc.

Then of course later on he goes out and plays GM to get his buddy Adams, and throws Williams under the bus.

Then he threw the whole offense under the bus after the loss to the Seahawks, basically saying he makes mistakes, but there are 11 guys out there…

Sounds like the agent had the right vibes about what was going on with Rodgers in Jetsland.

Yes the jets are dysfunctional and the owners son was trying to run the team based on madden ratings. The jets don’t have Tomlin it’s Tomlin show and he has guys in place who police the locker room.

So going by Khan’s interview we can stop with the GP trade stuff and he seems pretty open to trading down and trying to get that 2nd pick back

Rodgers is a drama queen. He thinks he's building the suspense or hype or whatever you want to call it and people are going to go crazy when he signs. Instead, it's going to be a wet fart because nobody cares about an unlikable, washed 42 year old.

What would you rather they do?

Benched Dan Moore to figure out if Jones could play LT. They knew they weren't resigning Moore so by playing Jones they could have determined if they needed to intently address that spot.

But that would require Jones to struggle and would threaten NHALS so we of course didn't see it nor was it ever considered.

Well you have a collision of a dude whos a major narcissist and a franchise that is very sensitive to PR/optics.

So this is what you get. It's a match made in heaven (or hell depending on your perspective).

I actually do agree with this. If they knew they weren't going to offer Moore and they thought it'd be better for Jones to be on his natural side, that should have happened. Not like Moore was a James Daniels type where there would have been a noticeable drop down from Daniels to McCormick.

I'm not sure I see a team that makes sense to trade down with to get another 2nd rounder. Fair value would be something like 21 for 40 and 60, but I don't see any teams with 2 picks in that range that make sense. I think 21 to Seattle for 50 and 52 seems like the most fair value there.

I could see something like trading with the Giants for them to move up into the 1st round to draft Dart, something like 21 for 34 and 65. That's not getting an extra 2nd back, but it's getting the #1 pick in round 3.
