OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

BigDaddy, who repeatedly stated he didn't want Rodgers, is now insanely invested in defending this shit show because MIKE TOMLIN wants Rodgers. I mean, it must be liberating to have every opinion one holds be based upon how MIKE TOMLIN feels about it.
I don’t care what happens to Rodgers. I just laugh at people who say his holding us hostage. They offered a contract a week ago ball is in his court

Or in other words, the Steelers aren't an attractive enough place to get offensive players to go without splashing out money, and none of the QBs are attractive enough for them to splash money, and this whole thing is the sporting equivalent of two ugly, smelly people staring at each other from the opposite side of an empty bar, weighing up just how desperate they are to get laid tonight.

Which still stinks as a place to be.

I get pushing back against stuff like hostages and what not, but at the same time it's still basically one of the last places in the NFL you want your team to be short of having a Watson-esque fustercluck already in place.
Absolutely agree with the not being attractive enough offensively. I am looking forward to seeing the other 10 guys develop on offense knowing that the qb of ghe future will be in college in 25

It’s the fact they are letting a washed lunatic QB make them look so needy and pathetic waiting for him, like he is the difference between a SB or not.

Sure.

He’s cooked and half crazed - he is loving the attention and feeling needed by the Steelers - it’s sad and pathetic the Steelers are groveling for him.

That’s why Heyward snapped, because he’s from an era when the Steeler org had pride in themselves and what they represented.

A bunch of Steeler fans just want to see him kicked to the curb, and for this org to show some pride in themselves again.

So if the Steelers pull their offer fans will be happy. The organization can do whatever it wants to do without needing an answer from Rodgers

There is no place that is attractive enough to attract Rodgers without splashing money. The money is what is attractive to him.

Either you understand how pathetic they look or you don’t.

No matter how he dialed it back, there’s a reason Heyward was livid about the AR nonsense.

The Steelers are now like that really successfully jock many of us knew in high school who went off the rails.

Now he’s a desperate meth head walking around downtown Pgh looking for cigarette butts tossed on the sidewalk by homeless people.

You pass by the guy and cringe when you see him, not fully understanding how he made so many poor choices to get to this sad and pathetic low point in his life - but here he is.

Cam said either you want to be a Steeler or you don’t. He wasn’t going to recruit him. He wasn’t gonna do a dark retreat with him.
The only people who are pathetic and desperate are the people who are worried about what Rodgers may or may not do. People on here who are making it more than it is. Rodgers wouldn’t be the 1st player the hosted in the faculty and didn’t sign. It’s a slow media cycle enjoy some March madness the Steelers have a big week ahead with multiple pro days focus on that.

every team in the divisional round of the playoffs was run 1st

which one of those teams toss sweeps to plodding running back on 3rd and 5 ?
and continues to try the same play multiple times vs. stacked fronts despite not having success ?

while only scoring in the teens at home vs a team they scored nearly 40 on a few weeks before? with a large part of those points coming from the pass?

The Steelers are very worried about what Rodgers may or may not do otherwise they wouldn't have hosted him on friday. You walked right into that one. Rodgers is owning the Steelers front office making them look like blubbering fools!

That doesn’t even make sense they hosted a potential free agent it’s not anything new or special

You can call the perfect play and the players especially the qb not actually execute it. You can draw up plays to get the matchup you want and the qb screw it up. It’s very difficult to be an above average oc with a bottom 20 qb

Sure it does, they're waiting for Rodgers to decide, if they weren't concerned or worried about it he wouldn't have come in for a visit. So, the Steelers at best are sloppy seconds.

Hopefully you can eventually work your way through being stuck in this denial stage of grief.

Shit gets pretty funny when you get to the acceptance stage and can see things for what they are.

Like Tomlin waiting by his phone for Rodgers to call and save his season.

Then Heyward, Watt and Fitz will get those rings!

the perfect play ? So Wilson is the one calling for the toss sweep? Instead of a passing play?

Is that what you’re going with?

Are you Forgetting about the ‘don’t call an audible on this play’ mandate from the coach that now spans 4+ QBs and 3 OCs ?

Are you a horse? Cause those are some big ass blinders you have on.

RW was audible the entire season. It’s crazy how the same hit piece came out in Seattle and Denver. RW was so upset about not being able to change the play he wants to come back. KP and Mason were literally changing plays when they were here. The more rw was changing the play the worse he was the all 22 on him this year is rough. He could not get to his 2nd read he would be confused post snap and try to escape the pocket like he was 26 and play back yard football. He was incapable of stepping up in the pocket or using mof.

This is my shocked face looking shocked.

Here I thought Tomlin was forced to carry the water for all these bad rosters “others” are building
I said this was all tomlin a week ago once they got DK they were going after the highest ceiling qb in free agency

Yes he hasn’t won a playoff game since 17. He also has been in the playoffs with career backup qbs and teams that had no business being in the playoffs

It’s on him for having career backups duh.

He wanted to throw away a first on Fitz in 2019 when many of us were screaming to keep the pick and take a QB in 2020.

All the writing was on the wall that Roth was done (38 with an elbow injury uh…), but Tomlin had to get out the duct tape and keep that worthless streak going.

He is complicit in this mess, the main instigator - not the victim.

Not being able to audible just 1 time during a game means he wasn’t able to audible on a specific play. Which is what was asked.

Are you denying that’s happening? Denying that’s happened with the last several QBs on this team thru 3-4 different OCs.
It’s happened all the way back to when Haley was the OC.

Do you think McDermott or Reid are telling Mahomes and Allen “hey, don’t audible on this play no matter what you see from the defense “

Wilson wants to play somewhere next year. I believe he thinks he could win a struggle with the bill walsh type offensive coordinator you think this team has. if push came to shove.

As I predicted when he signed here. It’s all Russ’s fault the offense wasn’t good last year. Right ?
Just like it was Kenny’s fault, masons fault, Mitch’s fault and even Ben’s fault. Throw in Randy, cabada’s, ( butler’s, dick’s, terryl’s too) and soon to be author’s fault.

But the guy in charge here longer than any of them has no responsibility for the offense/team looking like an awful mess. Right ?
