OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

People can spin it however they want but the absolute perception here is that Rodgers is hoping for Minnesota and is keeping the Steelers on the back burner to see if that pans out. What an embarrassing place to be as an organization being the sloppy seconds for a washed up drama queen.
Except Minnesota has literally said they are out. They want a backup quarterback whose willing to support JJ but knows their just a backup

Do you think sign Rudolph and hope for the best was the plan for this team heading into the off season? This cocky, ignorant organization just assumed Fields would re-sign, and had no plan B.

Mickey mouse organization.
The plan was to sign the cheapest bridge qb possible because none of them are the difference between 7-10 or 10-7.
The plan has been building the foundation on offense for the rookie qb in 26

This.

Yeah, in practical terms it doesn't really matter.

But it still stinks as a place to be. Hell, the reason it doesn't matter is it's all the bottom of the barrel here anyway, and obviously it's great to be reminded of that.
It’s free agency money makes players go where they don’t want to go we saw it with DK and Garrett

Philadelphia is an anomaly. The vast majority of teams incorporate a lot more passing than running in the league now. Just because the one team who runs the ball a lot beyond the Steelers won the SB doesn't mean the overarching point doesn't have merit. The Eagles had the OL and the RB who could pull that off, clearly we did not.

We are too conservative and too predictable. We're risk averse to the an obnoxious level.
every team in the divisional round of the playoffs was run 1st

I am waiting for @bigdaddyk88 to start a petition to strip Gerry Dulac of all media credentials after leaking that Aaron Rodgers visited this proud franchise.

If all of them are placeholders why not just go with Rudolph and be done with it?
Because smith and the qb coach wanted to work with JF more. They jets offered him more money and didn’t give the Steelers a chance to match. Justin knows this is his only chance at payday before he is considered a journey man backup. Once JF wasn’t an option Smith wanted Mason because he sees Ryan Tanahill in him

Lol i don’t even care that it was leaked. Free agents go to faculties every day. Heck Sutton whose not signed is working out in the Steelers facility daily. Rodgers would have leaked it himself to keep his name in the news

Pretty sad we lose out on Fields to the lowly Jets though. Not that I necessarily thought Fields was the answer. Regardless, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

Rudolph is serviceable, like I said we should look at '26 to get the franchise QB. And if we go 6-11 that'd be great. Take a step backwards for the greater good.

Jets offered more money than we did. Fields had 1 more td than Mason last season. I still think the jets draft a qb in the top 2 rounds and the rookie starts mid season moving fields to the bench. Fields has never played an entire 17 game season
Yes they are scraping the bottom of the barrel that is who was available in FA

Dulac wasn’t even the only person to leak he spent 6 hours at the facility

Someone on the Steelers leaked it and Dulac was the first to post it - so if that tweet is what makes AR mad enough not to sign, I’ll consider Dulac a hero of the people… even though he was just being his usual mouthpiece for the org.

Or in other words, the Steelers aren't an attractive enough place to get offensive players to go without splashing out money, and none of the QBs are attractive enough for them to splash money, and this whole thing is the sporting equivalent of two ugly, smelly people staring at each other from the opposite side of an empty bar, weighing up just how desperate they are to get laid tonight.

Which still stinks as a place to be.

I get pushing back against stuff like hostages and what not, but at the same time it's still basically one of the last places in the NFL you want your team to be short of having a Watson-esque fustercluck already in place.

BigDaddy, who repeatedly stated he didn't want Rodgers, is now insanely invested in defending this shit show because MIKE TOMLIN wants Rodgers. I mean, it must be liberating to have every opinion one holds be based upon how MIKE TOMLIN feels about it.
Tomlin is a paper tiger. Most overrated coach in the NFL!
