OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Off Season We dont need a QB Edition

Edit: Albert Breer is saying some teams had him hand clocked at 4.44, gotta take these pro day numbers with a grain of salt as it's not standardized like the combine. Still really impressive.

If they take Milroe at 21, my jaw will be on the floor and I'll take back every nice thing I've ever said about Khan.

I would have been shocked this news but now, well, I guess not surprised. Not sure how to receive it.

And, even if he does go to them as a 3rd rounder, I'll still be a bit nervous that they'll be like "this is our guy, we got a discount, he'll take some time but we're going to give him a try some time and we don't need another guy if he's tracking well". A 3rd is cheaper than a 1st, but it still comes with the potential opportunity cost.

I'm definitely no draft guru, but Milroe looks to me like he could break Lamar's rushing stats by a QB. He's that talented of a runner.

But he can't hit a f***ing broad side of a barn. I don't know his backstory, but it looks to me like he was RB in HS and someone said "you can make more of a career/$$ as a QB" so he took up throwing the ball that late in life.

I'd still be shocked. Like I said, they had meetings with their 6th round pick last year. Until someone explains to me why I should care, it doesn't mean much to me.

I'd also be nervous about them tagging him as the future QB, but I think there's still a chance that he'd be viewed as too much of a project to not target a QB in R1 in 2026.

Regardless, I don't want to draft him. Certainly not before like the 5th or 6th round. I think it would be a wasted pick and they have enough other holes that they could potentially fill with those picks.

I have no idea what JJ will or won't be as a pro.
But man, these GM's are weird. Asking about the availability of a guy who hasn't thrown an NFL pass. Must be the O'Connell effect of "well if KOC thinks this dude is good, this is a can't miss player!"

If I were the Vikes I'd say he's available for multiple 1st round picks.

I guess it depends when the teams called and inquired about JJ's availability. Darnold was incredible for them last year and there was definitely a narrative of "you can't let this guy leave the building".

But once it became clear that Minnesota was not willing to meet his contract demands and let Darnold test FA, I think the idea of trading for JJ becomes silly. And now these latest reports that they're not pursuing Rodgers (who is probably the best available QB left) should be viewed as a vote of confidence in McCarthy and his rehab progress.

Yes the Vikings traded up for him and before his injury he was going to be the starter last season. Koc absolutely loved him. They will bring in a vet backup to support him like Winston

You listed 1 person. And that person was the 1st to market the college draft as a cottage industry. Doesn't make him very good at his job.

And Not sure consensus is defined as 1 person.
It takes less than a minute to find multiple sources having KP as the clear best qb in that class but it doesn’t matter because 2 teams have dumped him

The thing about making a trade offer for McCarthy without him throwing a ball is that if I was willing to spend a 1st in the draft for him a year ago without him throwing a ball in the NFL, what's changed? A year less of contract and worry about a knee injury aren't nothing, but the most important thing is whether I believe he's the guy or not.

I’ve seen a few people on here questioning Milroe’s arm and I don’t really see where that’s coming from. His arm strength is probably the one thing when throwing the ball that he has going for him. It’s everything else that comes with playing QB that he struggles with.
