You dont guarantee people a role. They can infer it based on circumstance but just on principle you dont guarantee someone a starting spot. Ever
Not in perpetuity, but I don't have any issues saying "You'll be the starter Week 1" or "You're in pole position to be starter"or whatever gives him the warm and fuzzys.

I'm just using r/nfl/new at this point, because any legit signing is going to be reported there. I'm not taking any speculation/reports as gospel until something official is stated.

Sure, but Fields already knows that. Theyre not gonna throw money at 2 Qbs and even if they drafted one high they aint coming into camp as the starter.

I have no problem with, hey sign here and your in pole position. 1. Because it obviously true. And 2. It makes no guarentees.

CBs are kind of dropping like flies. I’m hoping they can pull off Ward. Samuel Jr. would be ok but the options are a little rough after that.

Also Twitter being down blows. Feels like Reddit is getting duped by a bunch of fake deals.

Darnold to the Seahawks for 3 years 110 million.

Lots of rumors that the Jets are front runners for Fields. It’s Rodgers or Wilson since that report he was going to the Giants seemed to be bogus.

Yeah with Darnold gone, I think the most likely outcome is Fields to the Jets, Rodgers to the Steelers and Wilson to the Giants. I'm just praying that doesn't end up happening and they come to an agreement with Fields.

I'd be really interested in seeing what the Jets do if Fields does re-sign with the Steelers. They're obviously not bringing Rodgers back, but who else really is there? Both sides may be left without a partner by the end of this.

You can do worse than Tyrod Taylor. I'd rather have him than Wilson or Rodgers.

Darnold to Seattle. 3 years, $110 million. Would have done that for him IMO
Not real high on Darnold, but this would have been stomachable. Was expecting $40M+ for 4+ years. Only 3 years would have been OK. Start this year, draft a guy to sit behind him next year, and then have a 'competition' in year 3 or if you can get out of it without too much pain.

....unless of course he does well.
