I can’t see Pickens being here next year. They barely kept him on the rails last year when he was the only legitimate target on the team.

Now they have shown him that he isn’t their guy and this would be his last year here. He does not have the ability to control his ego/emotions enough to just suck it up and focus on balling out to get an insane deal next year.

Also, do you really think an Art Smith offense could feed 2 WR’s of this caliber? Especially given the QB situation, which is going to be not great no matter what direction they go.

18-4 TD/INT ratio for Rodgers his last 10 games

From Russel's first game to the end of the season:

-Completion%: 63.7% for Wilson, 63.8% for Rodgers
-TDs: 19 for Rodgers, 16 for Wilson
-INTs: 6 for Rodgers, 5 for Wilson
-Yards/game: 228 for Rodgers, 226 for Wilson
-Y/A: 6.8 for Rodgers, 7.4 for Wilson
-AY/A: 7.14 for Rodgers, 7.67 for Wilson
-Passer rating: 94.2 for Rodgers, 95.6 for Wilson

It is effectively an entirely lateral move while the Steelers are getting older and getting the larger locker room problem. I cannot see any sort of justification for doing it unless Rodgers is signing for significantly cheaper than Wilson.

There has been a ton of smoke that the Jets really like him and I think most people are expecting that the Jets will out-spend the Steelers for Fields. That's at least what my expectation is.

It's not "if it's going to happen, it would have happened by now", I just think the Steelers will get outbid by the Jets for him.

The Steelers have 16mil more than the Jets, so the Metcalf contract puts them right around the same money as the Jets. This is without the Steelers releasing a player like Ogunjobi (+7mil),

The Steelers can pay an equal amount. Outbid will be a choice not because the Jets have the ability to pay him more money.

I didn't say that they didn't have the money to spend with the Jets, I said the Jets would outbid them.

My impression is that Rodgers can still see the field at all 3 levels. We know Wilson cannot. In addition, Rodgers would allow to go year to year whereas that is not an option with Wilson.

I like Rodgers better for us than Wilson. Not sure I like him better than Fields though.

1. Why does it matter if Rodgers can "still see the Fields at all 3 levels" if his results aren't better? His results are a complete lateral move from Wilson and that was with him having substantially better offensive tools than Wilson last year.
2. Why can't the Steelers go year to year with Wilson like they can with Rodgers? Both are old as dirt.

Wilson put up stats in garbage time as the Steelers lost game after game after game at the end of the last regular season.

Wilson is not as old as Rodgers.

That is a factually incorrect statement. Like that's just a blatant lie.

Saying that Wilson was putting up garbage time stats in losses at the end of the year is just an objectively false statement. His stats cratered at the end of the year when the team was losing.

Okay? Wilson is turning 37 this year and it seems the market for him is non-existent. At absolute best, Wilson is only getting a 2 year deal, but it's more likely that he only gets offers of 1 year deals.

It’s very possible that Wilson burned enough bridges and it’s made him the last case resort. I forget where it was reported, but there was an article that said Wilson would have a lot of work to do with the coaching staff and locker room if he came back.

I mean Rodgers would probably burn those same bridges, but until he does…

Wow he did an awesome job not throwing interceptions during games in which we put up no points.

Rodgers is at least an intelligent QB, if nothing else. And I always put their personal shit aside. They’re athletes…anyone that looks to them for any kind of moral standard is fooling themselves.

I mean, nobody was out there outlining subsequent moves to be made for the WR room either. Just a lot of "can Pickens be moved/what can we get for Pickens now" discussion.

It just seemed awful short-sighted or at the very least getting ahead of ourselves, and based on past experience that seemed ill-advised.

I'll add that I think Pickens is really good and think he makes the team better. Although I see some of the issues that trouble some folks, because I'm not in the market, with local sports media harping on "George is another diva/headcase" I'm immune a little to the drawbacks/haven't been beaten down with the negative messaging.
Who to sign as WR2 has been talked about since their season ended, longer actually. Instead of GP+WR2, it could potentially be DK+WR2.

I don't listen to local media (beyond what is posted in here). The issues with GP are obvious and have hurt the team at times. People not wanting to put up with his bullshit, risking a hold out, or signing him to some monster deal is perfectly reasonable, even if you don't agree with it.

Okay? That has nothing to do with you flat out lying that Wilson's numbers were put up in garbage time.

Rodgers sucks just as bad as Wilson does. It's not an upgrade.

Lying. I guess. Honestly, it's because I couldn't be bothered to look it up. I am not "pressed" about Rodgers vs. Wilson. Both aren't great. Rodgers would entertain me more and could actually lead to going out in a blaze of glory. That would be fun.

Jaylon Moore 2 years, $30 million to the Chiefs. Think that sets up that $20 million Dan Moore projection to be pretty close.

Damn that Godwin contract is nice for the Bucs. 3 years, $22 million a year with $44 million guaranteed. Not saying I would have done that over trading for DK, but that's still a nice deal.

Yeah I think 2x20 for Fields, with giving him a longer term deal next offseason if he shows to be a legit starter this year, is the best option right now. Second would be paying Darnold on something like a 4x40 deal.
