So much for that whole letter he wrote about competing, it was just a play for money.

This is going to jack Watt's price up and I just don't get paying QB money to an aging edge with one career playoff sack. This team is several years away from competing and they just shouldn't be spending this kind of money on Watt.

They should trade him, but they won't.

That's not wrong, but you also can't ignore the Steelers' philosophy on offense is stuck in the 70's. Why would any skill player on offense want to play for the Steelers?

Now I'm sure yinzers would respond by saying "LOOK AT HOW MUCH DA STILLERZ THREW N'AT!" Which is true.... after they were down multiple possessions because they played the run-run-pass-punt offense for a half.

Skill players have no say where they are drafted - not until they are FA do they go where they prefer.

So that’s not an excuse for Bell 12 years ago being the last impact skill guy Tomlin developed.

RW and JF were brought in because they were dirt cheap. Kp was the consensus best qb in his class and MT was a former top pick.
If the Steelers offered 100-3 to fields today he would gladly take it
Yes Tomlin drags teams who don’t belong in the playoffs and they lose. Most folks could not stomach a 6 win season even if it led to a Ben

Tomlin drags these teams to the playoffs?

Dude he’s the one who builds the f***ing rosters!

He’s the one who hasn’t developed any impact players aside from Watt.

Him. Tomlin. He’s the one responsible.

He’s the one constant that keeps f***ing things up.

No wonder all these QBs can’t get away from him fast enough.

They really do not seem to want Russell Wilson back. If they offered a decent contract to him, it feels like he’d jump at it.

The Darius Slayton bidding war is going to be wild.

What a shitty free agent class to have your most cap space in maybe forever.

I think it's fairly evident that Khan is playing hardball and refusing to up his offer, so Fields is going to test UFA to see if he can get a better deal.

The issue with Khan's strategy is that I'm willing to bet a lot that the Jets will be offering more money and a better opportunity than the Steelers, so Khan playing hardball is just going to result in Fields going elsewhere.

Colbert used to tell players go field offers and and see if the Steelers wants to match. He felt like it was the best opportunity to show the players they weren’t lowballing
I don’t believe the jets offer him a better chance at starting week 1 than we do but maybe money

You guys bite on the most obvious controlled leaks from the Steelers/Fields' agent like a fish who hasn't eaten in weeks.
I mean these "insiders" are obviously a mouthpiece for the team/agents, so I don't really know what you're trying to say.

Anyway, I can't fault Fields for testing FA if our offer isn't what him or his representatives deem to be his market value. We didn't pick up his 5th year option and he has the right to go get as much money as he possibly can, whether that's with us or another team.
