If Heyward wants to, I don’t see why he couldn’t stick around as a rotational piece into his late 30s. And I don’t think they should cut Ogunjobi unless they desperately need the cap space. And it doesn’t seem like they will. He’d be an expensive rotational piece, but who cares?
Assuming the guy they sign is someone like Milton Williams you’re looking at:

Benton
Williams
Ogunjobi
First Round Pick
Adams/Leal/Loudermilk
That’s completely fine. If they want to do it anyway, then it’s no big deal. But spending a day 2 pick on a guy who maybe 3 years from now is a rotational piece isn’t something I’m gonna pound the table for.

My man, Moore literally played with Fields and had his best season.
Guess what team Fields plays on.
GP struggled when Fields played, however.
It certainly wasn’t Fields holding GP back when Fields had no problem helping Moore post career highs.
So either it’s GP issues or Tomlin’s offense.
I’ll go with both, as Moore is an insanely better route runner and Tomlin’s shitty O doesn’t develop any skill players.
Sacks>Pressures but sacks are generally such a low event stat that I think it makes sense to value pressures as well. There's also the film vs. analytics conversation. Personally I think going and looking at how valuable those 39 pressures were this year would answer it the best but nobody got time for that. That's why I trust some of these more reputable draft guys.
Well that there is part of my thinking. Yes the sack is usually more valuable to the team but since they are infrequent and often driven by events outside of the player's control, I don't think I value them more as a way of measuring what the player is doing. But it's hard for me to say pressure is the better measureable when it measures so much.
Definitely a situation for breaking out the film and seeing what's going on, which I will absolutely leave to the draft guys
How many of them (and this is a hypothetical question rather than me expecting you to look this up) had his college production though? Travon Walker is a good comp and even he got about 3 times as many sacks through college.

CA3 was drafted in 2022. Thus his missed rookie season was 2022. He has gotten better and was a decent receiver last season, especially over the middle. Austin had more TDs than Pickens.

You aren’t wrong, most Steeler fans don’t want to accept it though - because it’s frustrating as hell if you actually face reality.
Outside of 2022, Highsmith has just been an avg, whatever, avg around the league kind of player.
Highsmith having one big year, Juju having one big year, etc does not equate to Tomlin developing impact players.
Consistency is crucial.
The reality is the Steelers haven’t developed any impact players (aside from Watt), in the last decade+.
I’m talking guys that are considered at least top ten at their respective positions around the league.
They have drafted Watt and a bunch of whatever dudes that no one around the league would ever consider special or impactful,
Watt is their only game changer during this time.
Here is the list for anyone who cares to dispute that reality:

That's a whopping three (3) players in 5 years that have improved. I mean frankly that sucks and is a testament to this crappy ass coaching staff headed by none other than lazy "Najee should figure it out on his own" Tomlin.
Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe that stat. There's no way to justify it, full stop.
This might be the dumbest post ever in this thread, which is saying something considering Jiggy posts in here a lot.

you do understand that Fields 2nd career 300 yards passing game came thanks in large part to GP right against the colts this season.

So you listed 2 backup role players and a WR1 who beefed up his stats with more opportunities.
Again I'm not going to die on the hill whether these dudes were "improvements", but in 5 years we've listed 6 players. If this coaching staff were any good there'd be a laundry list of guys. The fact it's this sparse should really tell you something, but I'm not sure you can read between the lines without assistance.

People are still in denial (that's the 1st stage of grief).
I've been pounding the table since the 2012 Tebow fiasco that something is fishy about Tomlin. Since that time, his resume continues to support my theory he doesn't know WTF he's doing.
He can't or won't coach.
He picks the wrong players. And no, big daddy, you can't blame Colbert or Khan
His coordinator selections are a joke.
His lockerroom is in disarray at the end of every season.
He can't manage the clock.
He doesn't even have a coaching tree
He hasn't had a playoff win in 10 years
Again, no one can say what Tomlin does well. Not 1 damn thing after 18 years. Like what more evidence do you need?

Cam is 35 will be 36 before the season starts. Larry had provided them absolutely nothing for 2 seasons and has a cap hit of 10 million dollars.
Cam Benton FA 1st pick as the top 4.
Guys like Leal and Adams are depth guys. Loudermilk is a ufa. If your serious about building the Eagles they rotate 4 DL consistently

It’s very obvious this was a negotiation tactic and there was no actual intention by either side of moving on.
