OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

The Eagles fans wanted to fire Nick this season he doesn’t have any power. He was considered a goof ball this time last season

So basically you are saying the coach shouldn’t wield a lot of power over the draft and personnel decisions?

This whole, let the coach coach and GM build the team thing seems to be working well for the Eagles to the tune of 3 SB trips and two rings.

Wonder why the Steelers philosophy of letting their coach wield so much power has failed so miserably for 15 years.

Yes, I believe khan and Andy should be allowed to sign and draft whoever they wanted and I expect they will. Nick doesn’t call plays or have say in personnel matters. He is just a game day CEO.
Some people just blame all the bad on the hc

When we've heard from constant beat reporters and Big Ben that Tomlin gets the guys he wants?

The NFL.com guys have Will Johnson dropping out of the top 10. That would be a great guy for us to trade up for if he drops. If we get him and a lineman, defense is officially done.

Marcus Golden is being slotted to us alot.

When the HC is the one constant over 15 years, wields way too much power, and that org has a modern franchise playoff drought - f*** ya he gets the blame because he IS the problem.

I’ve told you this for years and it still hasn’t sunk in, and each January it’s the SOS.

It’s him dude - 100% him.

Kenny Picket now has as many SB rings as Mike Tomlin.

KP gets the last laugh on Tomlin. Maybe he will never be a starter, but he just went and won the SB with the team he grew up loving as a kid.

That huge smile he had on his face, that will be there for quite awhile.

Can’t put a price on that.

The gm still decides on drafting and signing but yes tomlin like most coaches has final say they have to coach them. Khan gets to sign free agents that he wants Andy has imput as the pro director

Kp is a solid backup it’s crazy Eagle fans preferred Morgan over him as the backup
They have money to spend and can retool the entire dl and db room in free agency and the draft. I look forward to seeing them building the foundation of the roster in the image of the eagles

It all depends on what Johnson runs and they people who hate dj and his drops will hate golden

KP can become a beloved figure in Philly. ala Charlie Batch and he will make millions being a backup and won’t keep exposing himself to CTE given all his concussions.

Jump in a few games over the next several years and help the Eagles win like Batch did in Pgh - and the guy will be golden.

I can think of a plethora of worse ways to make a living, like being a starter for Tomlin.

He 100% made the right choice last spring and one would have to be brain dead to think he has any regrets.

That smile from ear to ear yesterday said a thousand words.

Misleading…Hurts is better than anyone we could get, and the Eagles O line is the best in the league…the only thing separating the Steelers and Eagles is way better talent-selectors lol…oh and Tomlin’s involvement in that…Eagles prove that the Steelers need to change their entire front office and fire Tomlin
Well, the Steelers could have had Hurts but instead drafted Chase Claypoole.

People with this Pickett stuff...man come on. It's like saying that Carson Wentz would have gotten vindication over the Eagles if the Chiefs had won last night because he carried Mahomes' water this season.

JEFF ZATKOFF HAS MORE CUPS THAN MACDAVID!!! WOO!!! SUCK IT CONNOR!111!

I swear.

yes instead of potentially starting next season after sitting behind RW he has to fend off guys like Morgan for his back up job. If was not traded for he probably would’ve been the 3rd string option in Philly

So he could’ve ridden the bench? Zero chance he would start under Tomlin. Hell, could you imagine having Mitchell and Dejean on this D? Who am I kidding they would’ve had to earn their playing time
Dejean didn’t start for the Eagles until after their bye week

Absolutely silly to mention Pickett winning a super bowl as a backup as if that means anything.

The Steelers overdrafted him based on their connection to him at Pitt, he generally stunk, demanded a trade and got lucky to go to a star team where he sat as a backup. Using that to dunk on Tomlin is silly, there are so many real things to dunk on Tomlin for.

You mean he could be part of another Tomlin shit show?

Why would he want that, exactly?

Charlie Batch was a starter for the Lions, he could have gone off and tried to be a starter elsewhere, but he was happy being a backup for the next 11 years on his childhood favorite team.

He got a couple SB rings, is a beloved player in the area, does regular tv/radio jobs, runs his foundation and lives a good life.

You think he regrets his choices?

We're using KP winning the SB as a jab to Tomlin when Tomlin was the guy who put himself out there to draft him and we only traded him once he asked out?

It's notable, of course, but I just feel good for the kid, Eagles hatred aside.

He asked out for a reason.

Life is about choices and taking control of your destiny- again do you think he regrets his decision now?

People are missing the forest through the trees here because he’s not a starter, assuming that’s the end all be all to being happy in life.

I severely doubt Batch is walking around wishing he went off and started for the Jets or some shitty team vs how his career played out.

Batch was a starter for 4 years in Detroit before he became a backup Pickett didn’t even finish his rookie contract out before he asked to be a backup

I literally just wrote that Batch was a starter before he came to Pgh, so why did you feel the need to repeat that?

He decided he was happy being a backup on his hometown team, and never cared to pursue a starting job again.

What does that tell you?

I’m 100% sure KP could give a rat’s ass about anyone in here or in Pgh being happy he’s gone or any other dumb shit like that.

He made a choice that people blasted, but he knew what would make him happy, and he got to live out a childhood dream few ever get to.

If you and others are too blind to understand that, I pity you.

I hear Sirianni being compared to different Super Bowl coaches and I heard Switzer even mentioned once when comparing him to other SB winning coaches. I haven’t read anything that compares him to Tomlin.

Both had really strong general manager/org in place to set him up to succeed.
Both had a young QB to work with though at that point Ben was further along in his development, having already won a SB
Both have had success very early in their careers with SB wins.
Both have NEVER HAD A LOSING SEASON
Both give dumb quotes to the media. However, the media LOVES Tomlin and most view Sirianni as a goofball.

Even in spite of this win, I still don’t think Sirianni will get the credit that Tomlin did.
