OT: The Pittsburgher Thread: Kansas City Swifts vs Philly Eagles

This is starting to get to Pirates level bad

I hate baseball but I know their owner is cheap or some shit and trades the good players away.

AR2 is just cowardly and in a state of delusion.

He needs to be pushed through his stages of grief by being called out and embarrassed until he finds acceptance for where his org is at.

Next year at this time will be a massive pressure cooker for AR2 after another Tomlin season.

Well for a team that barely throws MOF, having another TE is just a waste of resources anyway.

Doesn't matter who the next QB who will be brought in, I promise you we won''t be throwing it to the middle bc it's a Tomlin decree.

It absolutely matters who the QB is. Based on this site (NFL Team Tendencies | nfelo.app) , here’s how they rank with targeting the middle of the field with the % of time they target the middle in parenthesis:

2016: 5th (26%)
2017: 3rd (30%)
2018: 2nd (32%)
2019: 18th (23%)
2020: 3rd (28%)
2021: 7th (24%)
2022: 23rd (20%)
2023: 21st (17%)
2024: 30th (16%)

I was only referencing the Bucco’s because their die hards have been doing public protests, billboards, etc. so seeing the same ilk happen to the Steelers is wild.

A lot of Fields' throws towards the middle of the field were very short throws, he didn't use the intermediate and deep middle much. This table doesn't include his week 6 game against the Raiders (would only add 1 intermediate/deep MOF ball), but here's what the chart says:

View attachment 975898

In total, he ended up going 4/8 with medium or deep throws in the middle of the field in his 6 games.

I think this says more about how Fields was used than his ability, though. Tomlin was insanely conservative with him and they threw short about 75% of the time with Fields passing.

I think it supports my theory that it's a Tomlin edict vs any ability (or inability) of the QB in question. It's transcended about 4 Qb's with varying degrees of skill. It's his philosophy. Not sure how many more times we need to see proof of this.

I'm not sure I understand your comment in bold?

Check out my post #382. Doesn't matter who the QB is...Tomlin won't let them throw it in the MOF.

I mean when ben was healthy they used the mof. Mason used the mof his last season. Smith called plays with guys open over mof but the sb still has to throw it

Lol we are the favorites for everyone. Debo Stafford Rodgers

We just gonna ignore the stats that show this isn’t the case? And if we’re talking Fields and Wilson, why are we expecting guys who have shown they don’t really throw over the middle of the field to start now?

Your commentary on the stats doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'm still foggy recovering from the flu

Here is what you said: Based on this site (NFL Team Tendencies | nfelo.app) , here’s how they rank with targeting the middle of the field with the % of time they target the middle in parenthesis:

You used "target the middle of the field" twice.

The first number is the rank amongst NFL teams in how often they target the middle of the field. The number in parenthesis is the % of targets that were over the middle. So in 2016, they used the middle of field the 5th most of any team in the NFL with 26% of their targets going to that part of the field.

It tells me they’ll absolutely use the middle if they trust the QB.

Oh really?

Guess that didn’t go too well?

But that’s to make what’s his name sell the team right?

Will be interesting to see if the fanbase has the guts to start "Fire Tomlin" chants to the same degree they did with Canada in 2023.

Ok I'm following now.
Be curious to see how those stats break down by quarter. Bc I remember around 2019/2020 where Ben would start calling his own plays (bc we were always down) and he'd use the MOF when he'd go off script.

This is all anecdotal but that's what I remember.

I’ve never been a fan of booing players or coaches.

However, Tomlin is now reaching playoff failures that have become historic - and I’m no longer talking Steelers history, I mean NFL history.

- He’s literally one more one and done playoff loss from having the all-time mark and being tied with Marty at 9.

This is the one that really blows me away.

That’s one of those Gretzky like records I never thought any coach would ever be bad enough to sniff when MS achieved it.

- Tomlin is also now in the top ten ALL TIME for playoff losses in NFL history.

- He’s also moved into the top three for longest streaks (with one team) in NFL history without a playoff win.

- He’s an astonishing 3-10 in his last 13 playoff games - 3-10!

AR2 and the Tomlin nut huggers have completely lost all sense of reality and are in complete denial about what’s happening here.

Raise your hand if you are surprised that he won 3.
