You have a better chance of drafting such a QB early in the 1st round than any other spot in the draft.

The Steelers lack the coaching necessary to win without a great QB. Jimmy G and Cousins types aren't going to do anything but keep the team mired in mediocrity.

Depends which pick we end up with. We might have a high enough pick that we can get our guy this year. If we aren’t in a position to do so, we’re wasting a lot of money on an elite defense if we stick with Rudolph/Haskins instead of getting a stop gap.

Ben could have done an Elway or Manning (Broncos) impression for his last hurrah. They had the defense, they probably had the RB in Harris. The WR's are fine enough.
But the Oline is just flat out bad to sink all of that.

Then you have the imbecile HC...

Who cares. You don't get desperate and bring in a mediocre QB just because you have a good defense. It'd better to have a couple bad years and get your young QB than go after a mediocre vet.

I am betting that it is not just Tomlin who wants Ben to keep being the QB. It stinks of a decision made from above to me. Gotta give Ben his farewell tour.

Is BR really calling Harris out on being more physical? Hilarious.

Get up there and really molest that D-line, Najee. Just assault the hell out of it. BR would know a lot about that.

No, I don’t agree with that at all. IMO, when you have an elite defense and no QB, you should try to compete with a Cousins or a Jimmy G, or you trade off the most valuable assets (Watt, Fitzpatrick) for picks to do a proper rebuild. The strategy you’re describing is such a waste of assets and shows no direction.

He’s such a joke. He tried to make a comparison to Jerome Bettis, a style of RB that has gotten phased out of the NFL. I hope Ben retires mid season, it’s everyone else’s fault except for him.

To be fair, the D-line is wearing a "DTF" shirt ...

I'm not going to say jack about this defense because they are absolutely GASSED. Did anyone see that graphic in the 3rd qtr where they ran like 50 some plays where we had HALF of that?
From short fields due to crappy punts, offensive turnovers or ST disasters, this defense has turned in decent performances considering the circumstances.

I wasn't referring to our defense, more the other team's that BR's comment was referring to. At least, that's the way I took it.

What elite defense? They are getting older and injury prone. Especially on the d-line, soo..

You can’t be serious. The same defense shut down Josh Allen week 1. When the offense doesn’t do anything, obviously that’s going to have an impact on the defense’s productivity.

Jimmy go s hurt again no way I can pay him 24 million next year and no way cousins is worth that contract

Those were just examples… It can be anyone in that tier. Kirk has also be great this year for what it’s worth. There’s really not a big gap between Cousins and Mayfield, who Cleveland believes they can win with.

Cleveland believes they can win with now but knows once they have to pay him 35 million a year they will not feel the same.

That’s a great strategy if you want to get your franchise stuck in mediocreville. Take the down year or two to get your QB. Then worry about postseason success.

Well, in my opinion, this is our down year. The time to get a QB is this off-season. Anything short of that is a failure. Multiple seasons of this is how your franchise becomes irrelevant for years.

And to be clear, I’m advocating to take a QB in rd 1, assuming we have a top 10 pick.

Josh Allen had the game in hand before the 4th quarter despite the poor game plan and execution so no he wasn't really shut down.

By the time they get through their "down years" Tuitt and Heyward are too old. So now you need a new dline and we know the Secondary isn't elite so. This is why don't be surprised when Watt wants out and to a contender

You’re just making things up. He didn’t have the game in hand, he struggled all day. Funny how you can try to diminish a great win like that, which was entirely because of our defense. If they approach the off-season the right way, we can retool this team quickly via the draft (QB rd 1, hammer O-Line after) and maybe with a FA signing or two. The components are there for this to be a decent rebuild

You're going to have two down years. The year that gets you a top 10 pick, and the next season during your new QB's rookie season.
