It's a good time! The place is pretty nice to just walk around in, if the kid gets second thoughts about the rides, but I'm sure we'll find a few she will enjoy.
Been meaning to make it there all summer long, but waited for a nice not so hot day that it wouldn't be jammed with people... was going to go after labor day (tuesday) figuring it would be perfect with the kids back in school.... and after labor day they close weekdays and only open saturday and sunday.... ugh... I forgot about that.
I work weekends for the most part, so I refuse to not get the kid to the park so I called off - figuring i work with another guy so the job would be covered, but for some reason he's not in so the boss dog had to / may still be scrambling to find a replacement......... ehhhhh... oh well. My kid will always come before any job or any person. Just getting to the park and seeing her reaction and excitement will make it worth it.
I have the dvr set for all three games today anyways... like I said before, I'd much rather watch the games being able to skip over the 30 commercial breaks =]
3 games = 180 minutes of game = roughly 10 minutes of solid action per game = 30(ish) minutes of action = 360 minutes of commercials.... holy ****!
Phoenix is basically a bucket list coaster and Flying Turns is damn near one. I basically have no expectation of Phoenix living up to the ridiculous hype behind it, but I still gotta try it someday. Flying Turns...man, can I just say how much I appreciate them building a brand new bobsleigh coaster decades after the previous versions had been built? And out of wood? Beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
There's not a lot of positive things I say about Pennsylvania in general, but it is rotten with quaint amusement parks in a way you just don't see outside of the region (Ohio too). Places with a balance of rides that'll excite the thrill seekers and make the kiddies happy are pretty damn rare. Out here Knott's is really the only one that even vaguely reminds me of anything back east. I love Magic Mountain and Disneyland, but they are completely different beasts. Not many legit thrills at Disney, almost nothing but coasters at Magic Mountain, head south a ways and you get Legoland, which obviously skews to kids, etc.
Either way I can't deny having amusement/thrill parks around wasn't one of the most appealing factors about LA for me..one of the worst parts of living in Montana was having one amusement park within sensible road trip range. There's Silverwood randomly located in the middle of militant sovereign weirdo territory (Idaho pandhandle) and pretty much nothing else aside from Lagoon (Salt Lake City) until you get to the California coast.
I'll actually be able to watch the Steelers game today...but you better bet your ass I'll be playing my Switch as I watch because of those f***ing endless advertisements. So hard to just enjoy anything when it's ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads, ads...it's kinda like waiting in line at Six Flags, but somehow even more obnoxious.
