I like the Preston Smith pickup. Can never have enough depth at pass rusher. Should be a significant upgrade over Jeremiah Moon as a rotational pass rusher. He’s a big ass dude and probably profiles better against the run than a guy like Herbig, so it’s nice to have a different mix of size/speed.

Great point about Moon.
This is why I'm always saying "marginal improvements can net you big gains over the long haul". This isn't about replacing Herbig, it's moreso Moon who was underwhelming at best.

This should keep Watt fresher and allow Highsmith/Herbig to limit their own snaps. Proven and durable player for a 7th rounder? Yes all day.

I think it is entirely possible that Williams is damaged goods and will never recover from his injuries. If so, oh well, at least it was only a 5th round pick.

I just think it's premature to declare that because it didn't work out for him in 9 games with the Jets.

Might get snaps at DE too. 6’5” 270

Right. Trades can reignite a player for the short term. If Williams is a dud, it's only a 5th rounder and no further money is due next year.

Little risk here with a potential big payoff. Williams and Pickens are jump ball threats near the goalline. 2 legit outside WR, 2 TE and 1 RB. That's a nightmare matchup for any defense.

Interestingdidn't realize he was that big.

I think the Leal comparison is odd bc Leal could only WISH to have a career like Smith.
Loudermilk and Leal are/were meh players. They need to move on from these guys.

Giving up a 5th for Williams and a 7th for Preston, I'm good with the buy low options. We all hated seeing them give up a lot to see Mike f*** it up. So this time it's a little more savvy.

If Khan had acquired a real #2, many would be praising him, but you can’t criticize his awful handling of WRs for…reasons.

I don't think a WR matters when your QB throws absolute ducks... I can't wait to see a playoff caliber defense vs. those 'thoughts and prayers' throws.

All Rodgers seems to do anymore is dump it off. Williams was never going to be a good fit with that. Hopefully with Wilson's moonballs he is a better fit here.
I think it definitely will, with Austin being smaller and Pickens having that reach and the only threat with some wheels and size, having Dub in the fold adds another threat that Wilson will definitely utilize. If anything, I am sure this will make Pickens pout and really, who gives a shit if he does.

I think Williams wanted out for a while, after that dipshit call out by Rodgers where he made it seem like he's accountable about his own shit before calls out others, comical really when you know A-Aron is a f***ing self serving twat of a human being...Mike was probably being shopped around.

I laugh that they felt getting Devante was going to fix everything, then Beanie showed up and picked his ass off twice and it was clear, A-Aron dun f***ed up again for being a mediocre f***ing player this year. I hope Mike is fired up and ready to f***ing go, I am betting on that. This will be a great trade where Mike is motivated to show the f*** up and stick it to that dipshit A-Aron.

HIs shocked face in that stupid twat Pat's talk show was more or less "oh he got out" not so much "oh I am losing a quality target I called out and won't utilize."

I am guessing the price was high for Sutton and Seattle probably thinks they can win the division so they weren’t going to trade any of their WR.
Why does Green Bay trade Preston Smith?
Lot of young edge rushers that needed playing time. Solid player, I expect to see him get reps at DE to spell Heyward and Ogunjobi.

i'm sure they will give him a good look over as soon as he gets here and should know right away. so if he fails, they should be able to void the deal. no?

No, I don't think so. He's healthy enough to be playing. I just mean he might not be what he was at his peak.

I feel like the fact that they paid a 5th rounder for Williams and a 7th rounder for Smith shows where the WR market ended up. And while it's a lesser investment and therefore lesser risk, I feel like the teams that moved earlier for their WRs got better value.
