And I agree about putting them into a larger story, both in terms of what it means for the team and what's going wrong. It would be great to have clean pocket stats to put side by side (I looked and couldn't find, but I know Herbert's the league leader from a clean pocket right now).

I would point out though that the stats say Fields didn't do a great job of avoiding sacks.

No, but Fields only being league average in pressure to sack rate is a pretty substantial improvement compared to his time with the Bears.

Regarding Russ, I think some of the charts you posted confirm what we're seeing with our own eyes in the game - he's been borderline great when he's able to stay on schedule, but the improvisational part of his game is pretty much gone. He can still move around a little bit but the results of extending the play have not usually been positive.

I think they're counting the decision to punt on 4th and 1 in the 1st quarter. I don't consider this one egregious, we were on our 29 yard line.

So what? PFF grades are just an attempt at evaluating a players contribution to production. I get that Steelers fans have a bias because of all the Myles Garrett stuff, but this has nothing to do with PFF.

The problem is that they use random people who don't necessarily understand what they are seeing to generate their data.

I'm not sure if his win probability model accounts for that. There's a lot of inputs though, I'd imagine the point spread is one of them. Boswell is also a better than league average kicker so it's not reflecting that either in these scenarios.

Yeah. So far all these charts are "that makes sense".

It's interesting looking at Fields and Wilson's passing stats side by side. There are stats suggesting Fields is a better individual player at the moment without even looking at running. I mostly don't believe that's the case, but I did look at them because I did kind of wonder at just how much better Wilson's feast or famine approach was over Fields dink and dunk.

Fields did much better staying within Art's system. Russ is a better QB though. I'd honestly play Fields in Clevaland. Russ can't hold on to the ball for 7 seconds in this game if they get the snow.

They need to implement Fields more in the offense as a running threat, but the little I’ve seen makes me see immense value in keeping him as a backup.

I think you can probably end up getting Wilson and Fields for $30 million combined, with Wilson taking a cheap starter deal and Fields taking a good backup deal.

What do you mean by trap game? Usually it means a team is overlooking the opponent. I don't think that is the case at all. I think the problem is the short week after a tough opponent, a road game, and crappy weather. I don't consider that a trap so much as simply a tough scenario.

Plus it's the NFL. There's not that much separating good teams from bad ones. Hell, we can't even decide if the team we watch all the time is good.

Anyway, I agree with this. I also feel like calling something a "trap game" is an easy pre-excuse for the possibility of losing.
