Similar to the heralded series ER, "The Pitt" is a hospital procedural which focuses on an Emergency Room, with this one being set in modern day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm not big on hospital shows, but being a proud Pittsburgher, I'll be giving this show the old college try.

Noah Wyle, (as Doctor Michael 'Robbie' Robinavitch) is returning to his role as an ER physician after 254 episodes playing Dr. John Carter on ER. I'm not super familiar with hospital procedurals (aside from House), but this one doesn't have a ton so far that sets it aside from other hospital shows I've seen before.

They released 2 episodes so far and will continue to release an episode every Thursday moving forward.

Got excited, thought it might be about the Fallout 3 DLC with the same name but it looks like another hospital show with Wyle. I enjoyed his alien show, Falling Skies
My wife said the same thing… she loves fallout lol. I watched the first 2 episodes. I’m not big on hospital shows in general, but it doesn’t seem like anything particularly special in the genre.

I’ll watch it for the Pittsburgh connection mostly.

4 episodes in and I am really liking this one. It is pretty interesting in that each episode represents one hour in a single 15 hour public hospital ER shift. Also interesting is that it basically has no music and is wall to wall drama and has cursing becuase it is streaming (although it isn't too noticeable).

I was skeptical of how this could possibly work, but so far it seems to really work pretty well!

Six Episodes in and this is actually a pretty dang good show! Love the combination of characters and Noah Wyle is amazing as the the head doctor.

I will say, nurses I work with say this is the most accurate show they've seen from a medical perspective. All that being said, I see something similar every day, though not quite as crazy since I work on an ICU and not the ED. I avoid that place like that plague.

Dont really care to watch work on TV.

Underrated show of the year. It’s not buzzy, it’s not high brow or high concept - it’s just damn well made with a relatively spot on energy and realism missing from almost every medical drama. Noah Wylie is fantastic in this.

I love shows like Severance and White Lotus but sometimes it’s refreshing for my brain just to enjoy spending time with a show that’s just straight-forward really really good.

I had no expectations going in, I liked the first few seasons of ER way back in the day and House could be good fun but overall not a fan of medical procedural at all…and I’m absolutely hooked and impressed.

Absolutely man, you worded it very well.

I've been watching a handful of other shows right now (including the two you mentioned) but something about The Pitt is just so real. The characters are real relatable people. both patients and staff.

It's really nice to be able to just watch something that just shoots straight and hits hard. Great time for television right now.

I like the show. Nothing over the top in terms of medical issues. Shows how stressed ERs can be with the lack of beds.

Just finished watching.

I couldn't get away from it. The more I watched, the more I couldn't pull myself away to watch something else. Commented in another thread that I've never watched a hospital setting show, never been a fan of going to hospitals so that might have something to do it with. But damn this show got me good and is extremely impressive.

The characters make this show and they have such a good range of them. Mel is probably my favourite. I personally think her character has undiagnosed autism, or at least some form of neurodivergence, that went unnoticed because she has had to look after and take care of her sister that has autism. Theyve written her character so well and stayed away from the obvious autistic tropes and characteristics that are often displayed in media. And they've done a great job showing how something like that could go undiagnosed. Really curious if they dive more into that in the upcoming seasons.

The show did a remarkable job showing how much these people working these jobs care about saving people. Also did a great job showing how these patients can get extremely aggravated due to the weight that the system is trying to hold.

This is easily my top show that is currently running/airing right now. Exceptional all around. Can't even think of a single complaint.

Respect to all the healthcare workers out there, especially the ones working in something so fast past, chaotic, and mentally draining as the er. It's definitely not an easy life, but I'm sure it can be extremely rewarding at the same time.

There is a part of you that wants some things wrapped up with the characters in the end, but it's also the concept of the show where this is a 15 hour shift which was 3 hours longer than normal for them. Thus, that's just not possible.

Robby & Abbott mirror images of each other at the end of their shifts is sad and just emphasizes how tough it is emotionally for doctors.
Dana, can see she's torn between her job and the assault
Collins, nothing new on her
Langdon, Robby gave him a fast explanation and long roadmap back.
McKay, Mohan, Javadi, the nurses Mateo, Princess, Donnie nothing too hanging for them.
Mel, like her character and you could see with the interaction with her sister how see is able to connect with Patients.

Guessing based on the season, Santos has dealt with an OD before in her background (either family or friend, possibly a domestic) the way he talks to that kid at the end, as well as eying pills, and the Dad.
Whitaker, there were Easter Eggs about his situation a couple of times during the season. For a guy coming off a 15 hour shift and all that craziness, he was in surprisingly good spirits at the end.

Very curious to see how many of the cast returns. Supposedly the next season is set for July 4, a super busy day. That is about 8-9 months after this season which means this took place in September/October as the cast all brought a light weight jacket for their 7am and expected 7pm exit from the Hospital.

Oh good, we'll get firework accidents next season. That should be fun.
Yep. They pick high event dates, otherwise, this season through the first 11 hours would have just came and went. But, yeah, expect fireworks, so lost appendages/limbs. Also burns. Figure some drunks doing stupid things and breaking bones and stupid accidents. Drowning if any lake/water activity.

Curious to see how many of the cast returns. The trio of students, they likely do another rotation, though they were at different stages of their education.

IIRC theyve said you will see everyone again. Will it be to the same amount for each character as season 1? I doubt it. I assume some will move into different areas and will pop up, but I'd guess Mel and Whitaker will have the best chance of the students to remain mainstays. Read somewhere that apparently June/July is when med students start new rotations so I think there will be new students.

I really hope we get more of Abbott. Dude seems like such a badass and has probably been through some crazy shit.

Its amazing how well this show introduced brand new characters at the tail end of the season and they all still made their mark and were memorable. Like the scene when theyre prepping for the shooting and robby is outside with shen, the contrast between the two. Robby a complete nervous wreck, and shen is just calm before the storm, talking about weather, drinking his coffee and not trying to over think whats about to come.

The night dr trio of Abbott, Shen and even Ellis ( like her sassiness) were interesting in their limited screen time.

See how much of the students we get next season. Will get a couple of new characters as well.

Decided to give this show a watch after reading nothing but good stuff about it. Haven't watched a medical drama since The Knick, and for a modern period not since House and Scrubs. I'm 3 episodes in and it's got me hooked, really makes you want to keep watching.

The cast does pretty good here for a group of almost completely unknowns to me. Only one I recognized was Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Abbot), who I remembered from SouthLAnd, another show that was praised for how gritty and authentic it felt, except it covered the police.

Looking forward to finishing the rest of it, I'm sure it'll only take me a few more days.

Worth finishing over the Easter weekend IMO.

Overall a very sound series.
