I have another interesting theory. Yes, DeBoer is a veterans coach but he's an erudite guy. He knows Lou has a notorious quick trigger finger so he may not feel comfortable with the young guys. At this point I could care less. I wanted to blow it up last season. Maybe we'll get our wish at this point.
The sad thing is we don't have a first round pick to look forward to. So, that SHOULD light a fire under Lou's ass. The new owners cannot stand for this. In theory anyway. Maybe they could care less. Guess we'll find out.

The new owners seem to be preoccupied with the facility as opposed to the devils. I have a feeling Lou will have a very long rope. They specifically bought the devils so they could get the Rock.

To be honest, I really don't think Harris and whatever his name is are THAT emotionally invested in the on ice product that they would start putting pressure on Lou. Not after they said "In Lou We Trust" 450 times during that interview with Deb.

I'm looking at the next 7 games. And I'd be surprised if we won 2 of them. Hell, if someone was going to massively overpay for Corey's services I'd listen to them. I mean some really desperate GM with his neck on the line.

Seeing BG take bows on this one is going to be almost as annoying as Jim taking bows on Kovy. But I'd give BG a lot more credit for being right though since nobody was predicting Kovy would leave for Russia - at least not before the lockout ended, while Pete hasn't been able to coach without Oates/Larry around him :P

That's the thing...that (and our end of last season) is why the panic after five games is higher than it should be. Yeah it's only five games, but look at the schedule the next month with the way this team is playing and Pete's coaching - where, exactly are the wins coming from? It's hard to pick out more than a handful of games over the next month where you say yeah we should win, and those games we tend to lose too :shakehead

And if we fire deboer, who would you want as a coach? Laviolette? Lol.

I'll go on record as to saying one of these two:

Robbie Ftorek (Devils could use a guy with fire in his belly)

Ron Wilson (The poor man's substitute for JL)

However, Ted Nolan would be my #1 choice if possible, it seems he's wanted by the NHL. (Not sure why though)

It would be incredible if a reporter (or a fan) were to ask DeBoer his rationale towards lineup decisions and he actually gave an honest reply. Particularly what he thinks in respect to the younger guys pretty much guaranteed to be scratched the following game if they make a mistake or have a bad night and what that does to their psyche while the veteran guys get free reign out there?

I actually like DeBoer and his style of play that's implemented (although people still think and say the Devils "clog" up the neutral zone :shakehead) but I'm tired of the coaching carousel with the Devils and think they just need to ride this out. But even though it is only five games in to the season, it is getting close to panic mode and this blowing the lead issue will have to be fixed asap.

If this team misses the playoffs again, 3 out of 4 years, on top of losing its two top players then it wouldn't surprise me if they started focusing more on Lou regardless of the "In Lou we trust" BS. Any sports owner would do the same thing. This is the same group who got involved with the Knicks' on the court product.

I really hope they take a long look at our gm. Lou's work has been incredibly lackluster the last few years. Maybe if Marty's finished, he goes too.

Disagree. Lou's made every move he had to. Zach wasn't his fault. Kovy wasn't his fault. Clarky wasn't his fault. He got us a top-tier goalie and as much as we could get in terms of free agent forwards this offseason.

Losing our first round pick over the Kovaltract was his mistake, admittedly.

MacLean didn't lose his job until just before Christmas. Just saying.

Not really the same. MacLean was in his first season as head coach, after Lou had groomed him as a future head coach for years. DeBoer has been here a few seasons now, and the team has been horrible since last season.

Ron Wilson (The poor man's substitute for JL)

Wilson is brutal with young players. He has a deserved reputation for ruining prospects, especially European ones. Slamming DeBoer for not playing young guys, but asking for Wilson as a replacement makes no sense...

Another loss and Lou has to remove him. Then have 3 off days before the next game.

Lou should also waive Volxhenkov and look for a trading partner for Sal. Caps traded their captain a few years ago.

Never knew that about him. If that is the case, and Nolan is out...I'd bring back Ftorek. If not...who?

Paul Maurice?
Peter Laviolette?
Guy Carbonneau?

Didn't he take you guys to the finals ?

Yeah, and Pete definitely remembers that. Probably too well.

I'm not on the fire bandwagon yet. There's too much going on with the defense to blame it on the coach. It's blown assignments. But as long as the assignments are being given out. The defencemen on this team need to start playing better.

I find it amusing how you guys all of sudden got onto the same page as me from two years ago regarding Deboer. A timely Finals run bought him some time but it looks like the dream is going to end.
