Can't say I have, I just keep hearing people say he can be lazy on defense at times and makes a couple questionable plays. While I get yeah that you can forgive the questionable plays in regards to him being 17, the "lazy" part starts scaring me

I still hope Verhoeff somehow falls to 13th. lol

If there ever was a guy who would be the perfect fit for our defense it would be him(although I am not expecting him to fall past 9)
I really don’t expect Verhoeff OR Rudolph to fall to 13.

One name I’d like to put out there people should keep their eye on, is LW Nikita Klepov. He’s rated in the late teens, but outside of McKenna & Stenberg, might be the most talented offensive player in the draft, being the first OHL rookie to win the scoring title since Patrick Kane.

Only thing with Klepov is his skating and of course size. Skill level he’s right up there with McKenna and Stenberg. He plays all three zones well and has a bit of snarl to his game. Would not mind at all,if he’s the pick.

If the Isles drop back in this draft, my hope is that they are doing so with the intent of selecting Klepov.

Fancied him a good bit at the Hlinka last summer and then he did nothing but confirm that all winter long in the OHL.

Everything's been quiet on the Klepov front because he only played 5 post-season games and he declined to participate in the Combine. However, according to the attached post, he will be participating in the Dan Milstein Florida showcase this weekend, so he won't be forgotten as a viable possibility at draft time.

Plus, he was technically available for Team USA at the U18 Worlds, but dissed that because he didn't want to risk not being able to play for Russia internationally in the future.

Consider him right up the Islanders' Russky alley...

Will today's Tkachuk trade put Belchetz first on the Senators' draft board?
That would suck, it’s bad enough I keep seeing Belchetz going to the Devils at 12 in almost every single mock I see. It does make sense MJF, Belchetz would be a perfect replacement for Tkachuk.

With our 4th round pick, I really want the Isles to select the best goalie available. I have faith in Gamzin, I think he can be a good NHL goalie. But who knows what’s in his heart. I want another decent goalie prospect in the pipeline. Losing Gidlof in that stupid trade took away another good goalie prospect.

Personally, after the consensus-ish top 8, I'd go...

Rudolph - especially after the Tkachuck trade, I really only see Preds or Blues taking him. I think he's absolutely worth the pick and just as the protoypical RHD he's worth it value-wise. I know some people won't want to hear this but he reminds me of Dobson. And I say that as a complement. I mean we just traded him for 2 firsts+, and he absolutely won't need the burden of being the team's 1D.

Cullen - I don't see him falling to 13, but his skating and skill would be a steal personally. These types of guys are usually steals and are looked back on with teams regretting not taking them (Barzal, Sennecke, etc.). We've been begging for more skill, so even if there are some downsides, I can't see how people prefer guys who almost certainly will top out as 3rd liners other than outliers (and if we're talking outliers than I could easily see Cullen as a ppg first liner).
Belchetz - again, after the Tkachuck trade I don't think he's falling to 13 (again just value-wise its very reasonable he'd return market value), but I'd love him. I know he has his concerns, but I believe his skating will improve and he has the skill to be a top-6 forward. Also cool that he's friends with Schaefer
Gustaffson - Just an absolutely quality defender. If he was a RHD I think he'd be in the Rudolph tier and while I'm a BPA guy, we already got 50 min of gametime in Aitcheson and Schaefer locked up, so value-wise it won't return much (I'm not opposed to them playing on their offside but I guess I'm a little more traditional like that. I feel it just diminishes their abilities a little bit even if its better than the next option. Kinda like paying more in a trade by including a cap dump type vibe).

Lawrence _ I really like his skating and how he's well regarded as a well rounded player. Could definitely see that played with Eiserman. I also think if he stayed in the USHL he'd be regarded in the Malhotra tier and that he's getting criticized for going to the NCAA. Now that gives us more insight, but as we know BU was a tire fire and I think he'll show much more next year.
Hemming - I like his compete and physicality but just question is high end skill a bit, which is why I prefer Belchetz. I definitely like aiming for the ceiling, especially with a top pick, but I like him enough to be happy with the pick. Again, he was well regarded before going to the NCAA, and even though he still showed a lot of positives that demonstrate what he could be going forward.

Both Gamzin and Kotai are better prospects than Gidlof. He was awful last year.

Beltchez would be a fun grab.

Even if you're a big fan of the Russian we grabbed last draft, no team is short of these guys coming through their system.
