The Pat Maroon Appreciation Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Everyone pretty much called him trash but HE was the one taking it out! LOL

No matter what, Patty, THANK YOU for coming home. If no one else appreciates you, I sure as hell do. I believed in you and look at you all now!

Maroon's faults are his own, not team related.

I love the background story too but the guy isnt helping the team 5v5 and without ELITE linemates, its hard to mask his deficiencies. My problem is I see posters pointing to his points and everything is A OK.

That Thomas Bozak Maroon line looked vicious af. If that line never happened, we lose to the Stars.

He still played in all 26 games during the playoffs. He was obviously more effective and valuable than Fabbri who was an outstanding player and still posses a higher hockey IQ and overall more skill than Pat does. I'll never understand the reason to bash and undermine Pat's play in his year with the Blues. Was anyone expecting him to score over 30 points? That's a pretty solid 3rd line player at 1.75. He seems like a great locker room guy and wouldn't mind if he came back for 3x3. But if he wants his paycheck instead of just trying to stay home making a few million, than more power to him. Get your money.

Me personally, I'd rather see that roster spot used for a prospect. I was not a fan of Maroon to begin with and while he wasnt some big time player, he made me a fan. I do love what he did but the Blues cant reward him for what he did, they have to plan ahead. Without him stapled to Thomas, I see him performing worse.

I can't remember what our press box looked like during the reg season last year, from a forward standpoint. Fabbri was in the box a lot after he was deemed healthy but can't remember outside of that. Was it a rotation of Blais, Sandford, MacEachern types rotating back and forth from the AHL depending on injury? The year before that, wasn't it basically just Thorburn up in the box most games unless they needed a face puncher? Trying to gauge how a rotation type thing would work if we brought Maroon back and maybe had him in and out of the lineup. I'm guessing he wouldn't be on board with that, but who knows what the offers are right now...

This is likely his last big deal, my guess is the dollars would take priority over playing time.

I appreciate Maroon, and his story in St Louis will be legendary.

But if I’m honest, I think his best moments as a Blue are past. I think he can only disappoint on any future contract. His lack of foot speed challenges the type of game the Blues were trying to play. His strength with puck possession is not unique to him in any special way.

Even if I imagine him willing to sign for a minimum amount, I have some trouble seeing him hold onto a roster spot with a healthy roster and progression of prospects.

With that in mind, the likelihood of Maroon, an unrestricted free agent, resigning with his hometown team seem remote at best.

Maroon, who came home after agreeing to a one-year, $1.75 million contract on July 10 last year, became an important player on the Blues' third line with Tyler Bozak and Robert Thomas and scored one of the most important goals in franchise history in Game 7 against the Stars.

But the Blues have to prioritize signing their RFA's and it will likely leave little to no money against the cap to fit Maroon back into the fold.

Ranksu when he sees a dead thread.

Thanks Thomas
It's a legendary pass but if we're calling it a garbage goal on Pat's part... dude... if PAT didn't score it there's a good chance we would have lost the series.

And Thomas didn't score it, Pat did.

Give respect where it's due instead of using someone else to downgrade another's accomplishments. Maroon scored it, not him or anyone else.

Btw, you're welcome.
