adding two soft undersized forwards, one who is injury prone and the other one bought out because he couldn't crack a regular spot on a powerhouse Sabres team?? that's suppose to intimidate the league??

A Forbort Desharnais pairing is going to be so fun to feast on. Demko's going to blow out his knee again just from all the acrobatic saves he's going to have to try to make from those two giving up numerous breakaways and odd man rushes every game. Neither of those guys can skate and Desharnais is not physical. we added 48 goals with acquisitions to a team that finished 6th in league scoring.
your a mcdavid/drysaitl injury away from doing the lottery simulator in December
you better hope Hyeneman scored 50+ garbage goals again next season.

Oilers sure are up there as one of the best "offensive forward groups" in the league. If we start looking at 2-way play - they dont do that. Panthers has probably the best 2-way forwards:

Of their Top9, they only lost Tarasenko and he was a rental.

By your math (because you didn't account for players leaving) the Oilers added (career average) 27 goals in Arvidsson, 29 goals in Skinner, 24 goals in Henrique (call it 18 because he spent 1/4 of the season here). This from a team that is #1 in goals scored over the past 3 seasons.

McDavid and Draisaitl command respect (and yes fear) around the league, so the Oilers don't need any of that, they already have it.
They need wingers that won't blow AAA scoring chances like Foegele was doing, Holloway is too young to be expected to be a top 6 finisher on a Cup contender, Kane could fill that role but he's had a lot of injuries, Nugent Hopkins is a pass first and even pass second type of player.
Skinner and Arvidsson know how to bury the puck when served up on a platter.
Maybe the Canucks should have focused on trying to play hockey instead of "bullying" anyone, it's not 2010 anymore, the Oilers just turned around and took that cheapshot on McDavid and went out and beat the Canucks two games in a row where Vancouver barely could generate anything for game 6 and most of game 7.
This is hockey, not WWE anymore.
