So is McJesus too old now to score 40+ goals?
Last season he was injured and dropped half of 64 goals from his goal scoring breakout.

1G in 6 games, whats wrong, too early to tell?

His instincts are completely f***ed right now, that injury could still be lingering at the moment. Surgery would've been the best option 100% even if it means a late start.

I heard the other day the team invited a financial advisor in to talk to the boys about CPP and OAS benefits.
Heard Ekholm will qualify soon

He is 28 soon. Could be the start of a gradual decline
Wow 28 already and has not won a cup. He better switch teams if he wants to win one soon. Aint no way this team will win it with Skinny boy in net.

The oilers are way to top heavy.
I am still baffled how many minutes the top stars are playing. They look gassed.
Like yesterday in the OT. I don't blame McDavid, even though he had his "controller disconnected" moment.
Not a great formula to win - overplaying 5 guys.

Ryan McLeod with goals in 4 straight. Whats Savoie doin?

To be fair, I don’t think most savvy Oilers fans were thrilled with that move. Garden variety homers and typical HFB “Pronman’s prospect pool rankings are more important than trying to win” fanboys were the ones overhyping the “#10 pick for a 3rd liner lololol what a steal” trope.

The Oilers are 2-5. How many of the 32 teams had a 2-5 stretch last year where players went cold that was buried in the season that anybody noticed outside their own team forums, lay alone had a thread made about? 24? 28? Almost everybody? The Oilers did this but much worse last year and were a period from the Cup. All this thread is is “early season we got nothing else to talk about” fodder.

McLeod was a distraction in the locker room. While he was playing with pokeman cards, the other Oilers were all playing shuffleboard. While the Oilers were drinking Metamucil as a team, McLeod was sneaking in chocolate milk. The generational divide just made it not a great fit.

The Oilers have played 3 excellent games in a row. If they keep playing like that teams are not going to continue to get lights out goaltending and the goals will start to go in.

Skinner played fantastic last night. Think Andersen was even better to.

If Skinner played like that previously they win easily 2 of his 3 loses

The Broberg thing is interesting.

If a player can look like a tweener on one team and a top 4 stud on another I think that has more to do with the coaching staff and development team than the on ice personnel and player.

He looks fantastic, right now

Skinner was really good last night, I wish he could consistently make more big saves for the Oilers. The defense has to take responsibility too but the Oilers are getting great chances on the other teams starting goalies and they make big saves sometimes which is what you expect out of a starting goalie. The pucks have to start going in though but can't really complain about the Oilers play in their last 3 games.

Older teams take a bit of extra time to get going normally.
That said, their advanced metrics look good, there's not much there that would concern me if I were an Oil fan.

Shooting % is worst in the league and the goaltending has been bottom 1/3 of the league, so one of those is bound to change at some point.
Only half a dozen games in, I'd be concerned if they're sitting 2nd last in the Pacific about 15 games in; because that gives teams like Calgary, Anaheim and LA time time to settle into where people thought they'd be versus Edmonton.

If they're still in the basement though, I'd have some big concerns. It's a talented enough roster to turn it on for the back 3/4 of the season, but then it'd be staring down a bad first round matchup rather than cushy Pacific contests.
