The offseason begins

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

The Restrepo pick at 62 was terrible. Not a good draft for the Bills. Trading up for a CB? Thomas is not a zone CB and with Amos still on the board, this is just a draftnik link between broad need and player.

I still think Beane is best off trading down if he can find someone who wants to trade up.
The Restrepo pick looks even worse now that he ran a 4.83 40 at his Pro Day.

That is not a typo.

😬

There have been some Dean rumors out there, lets see if there is any more smoke.

There is some Jaire Alexander (not Bill's) chatter out there as well. The cap hit though are high with Benford still not extended.

Over the last 4 seasons, Alexander has missed 34 regular season games.

With $16,150,000 in base salary for 2025, it is a hard no for me on Alexander. Unless the Packers do a base salary restructure prior to making the trade and the Bills are giving up a day 3 pick, then OK.

Diggs signs a 3 year deal with the Patriots.

Given the low guarantees, it's likely 2 year deal with a lot up front that can become a 3 year, 69M dollar deal if he hits incentives.

Diggs was an elite route runner that really required him to make quick cuts. he had already lost a gear by the time he left here. If he can't make those cuts (or doesn't have the confidence in his knee to make those cuts)......he has potential to be super toxic in that locker room if things aren't going great. Lord knows he isn't going to blame himself if he targets aren't there.

Oh, I like this. A 31-year-old Diggs coming off and ACL tear halfway through the season is likely going to regress quite a bit. I mean- Von was still hindered by his injury over a year into recovery. Different positions, but I'd assume an ACL tear is tough on a WR with all the cuts they have to make.

I'm w/ Greg, this draft result would be *chef's kiss

(although I'm very slightly surprised that developmental DE isn't slotted at the bottom of his list)

With the Bills having 4 QBs signed today and a historical trend of only taking 3 QBs to camp in the 90 man roster, I will be really surprised if they use a draft pick on a QB. Especially since they have valued a veteran backup QB over a rookie.

The only QB they have drafted since taking Allen has been when they took Fromm to be the bubble pandemic QB and not a true backup.

Now that Allen himself is a vet, I don't think having a guy like Trubisky in the room is as critical, and his cap hit is not insignificant. Buechele and White both suck, I don't see grow potential in either.

While you're probably right in predicting what will happen, my personal preference would be to invest a Day 3 pick on a guy that at best could be a cheap backup for the next few years, or at worst a higher potential practice squad guy as the organization #3.

IMO, the critical thing in a backup to Allen is if said backup works well with Josh in the QB room. And frankly, Josh should have some say in who his backup is. I do think White is a capable backup though.......so if our QB room remains Josh/Tittie Kisser/White/Buechele -- I am unconcerned.

Either Mitch has a nickname that I've never been aware of or your autocorrect is amazing

Welllllll, huh. This is somewhat interesting:

I didn't want to just rank their incoming free agent classes, because that would simply be a ranking of which teams spent the most money. I tried to consider everything: Not just free agent acquisitions and departures, but trades and extensions and restructures. I knocked teams that signed great players but probably overspent or had poor priorities; I rewarded teams that spent little, but did so wisely and attacked the right positions. What could have been was also considered: The Browns don't get points for signing Myles Garrett to the same contract everyone would have, when they're the only team that could have gotten picks by giving that contract to someone else.

1. Buffalo Bills

Key acquisitions and returning players: WR Khalil Shakir, Edge Joey Bosa, LB Terrel Bernard, LB Greg Rousseau, Edge Michael Hoecht, WR Joshua Palmer

I loved: How the Bills retained their own talent before markets got set. The Shakir extension is only $15 million per year. Rousseau got $20 million per year. Bernard is at $12.5 million per year. Those are three young cornerstones of a perennial contender, and they're staying in Buffalo for remarkably less than their open market number. The Bills were right to retain the players who helped get them to the AFC Championship Game, even if they haven't yet slayed the dragon that is the Chiefs.

I didn't love: How expensive Palmer was. Palmer is going to fill the Mack Hollins role, but I'm not sure he's going to elevate it much -- certainly not for double the price tag. He is a good dirty work receiver and should be considered a glue guy on a healthy offense, but if he was a truly dangerous pass catcher, he would have already broken out in Los Angeles. Still, this is a small complaint in an otherwise great class.
Yes, that's a national pundit saying we had the #1 free agent period.

There is the thing.

There is a big difference between what fans and media want Brandon Beane to do and what Brandon Beane is planning to do.

I just get frustrated with people that put forth their idea of what Beane should do and act like it is what Beane will do. Those are two very different things in plenty of cases.
