Good bet to make
Fwiw I don’t think Boss in any way shape or form precludes them from taking DE at 30.

I think Beane would have just reworked his contract. I do wonder if I would have preferred that option to Bosa. Guess we’ll find out.Von is gone and not signing back now right?
Dolphins really went from the place to be to ehh, no thanks fairly quickly. The Bills outbid the Dolphins and Chargers for him per the Atheltic
That win rate costs a lot more than they got him for because of the injuries. Great bet to make.
Von was at some insane percentage like 18 something. But he only played on third and for sure throwing it downs so it needs an asterisk. Like a quarter of the defensive snaps. If you never have to do anything but rush along with the rest of the line and maybe a blitzes…your number is going to be high. Even injured Bosa played 40 something percent of snaps that weren’t all 3rd and throwing. What was Von’s for comparison last year?
He's been very good as recently as...last year. Hoping he can make our pass rush fearsome again.Hoping he can leave the racist shit to himself and his family.
He hasn't been good in awhile, hopefully he is healthy and energized
Beane's history has usually been to ensure that needs are minimally met through FA ever since the team got good. The only time we went in with a clear need was CB2 (Elam) and WR (Coleman). Every other year it's just been about getting BPA because the floor at each position was already set. I would be shocked if he didn't pick up a vet CB (I'm on the record as predicting Levi Wallace or more likely Dane Jackson) and another DT before the draft.I’d still feel better if we add, before the draft, a veteran DT that can take up space, a second tier cheap CB that they believe in, and veteran safety depth.
I don’t expect all that, but that would be nice!

This move. Bosa has more to give than just strictly obviously passing situations. I'm not saying he's an every down player.....but he can certainly play more than Von at this point.Would you have preferred Von back on a reworked deal for another season, or this move?
I guess this signing means Hendrickson’s not coming here, which sucks. Especially if the rumors were true that he’d cost a 2nd+.This move. Von had 6 sacks and a 18.4% pass rush win rate in 249 pass rush snapsWhat was Von’s for comparison last year?
The cap isn't real, don't worry about it lolIn a vacuum, I like the Bosa diceroll. The upside of him potentially getting back to what he was in 2023 is very high. And the risk of a one year deal is low.
Moreover, in a way, Bosa/Hoecht is like a supercharged version of Miller/Epenesa opposite Rousseau. Both tandems feature a high upside older vet paired with a high floor younger vet who's here to help eat snaps. Except Bosa is younger than Von, and Hoecht is more flexible than Epenesa.
That said, I'm not sure I'm understanding how the salary cap math is mathin' here. And I'm a bit concerned about just how much money we're going to have to push forward to make ourselves cap compliant. But I feel like there's too much that's unclear about what these deals look like to be overly concerned about it just yet.
Same. I don't have any faith he can stay healthy, but a one year deal is nice. Can't really complain. Maybe he can fill Von's role even better. How is he against the run?Wait.
Joey Bosa is only 29?!?!? What? That's.....wow. I thought he was like 34 or something.
Yup. They've struck gold on these types of moves in the past. Who was that RT they signed to a one year deal in 2020 that turned out to be a a strong starter? I'm guessing Williams? He also had injury concerns if I remember correctly. As someone else mentioned, I can't believe he's only 29. Maybe there's some juice left there. Big thing is staying healthy. If he does that, he should be a solid piece to rotate on that line.If you’re taking a risk, make it a one year risk. Leonard Floyd was a great gamble which worked.
Bosa is a one year risk. Draft his replacement, Bosa gives the Bills a year, however it goes, and that buys time for the replacement to step up as the right end.
Smart move.
I don't think he's washed up. Just injury prone. McD can watch his snap count during the year, then increase it for the playoffs. We have the luxury of doing that since we're likely winning the division regardless if Bosa plays a lot or not.Not really a fan of the Bosa signing. I probably would have tried to wait out and see if a trade option emerged rather than go washed up edge guy (again)
Would be nice if they can pick up a Simmons type of player late in the offseason. He was a cheap addition to *can't remember the team*. Starting safeties can go stupid cheap. I'm not comfortable with Rapp and Bishop as the starters. We'll still be a juggernaut, but it'd be nice to have some more talent and experience there.Beane's history has usually been to ensure that needs are minimally met through FA ever since the team got good.
