As boards seems to be solidifying, I’m getting a similar draft group at 30 most times on most platforms.

Trade down is the best option. Maybe the Saints want to trade up for someone like Jaxson Dart. They’ve got the right mix of picks for Buffalo to trade down and pick up a late 3rd.

First impressions based on immediate FA signings (caveat: I'm sure there will be many more signings, this is just a rapid reaction):
  • QB - Set, although could potentially release MT and/or add developmental prospect
  • RB - Set, but could add late round pick or UDFA
  • FB - Set
  • WR - Mostly set, still would like to add a speed guy in the draft
  • TE - Set, could add late round pick or UDFA
  • OL - Set, could add late round pick or UDFA
  • DE/Edge - We're OK... But could use a difference maker (unfortunately most of those in FA are gone now, not sure we'll find one in the draft at our position), and depth is non-existent. Could also address post 7/1.
  • DT - Needs major attention, priority need in the first two rounds of the draft, as well as either a double dip later in the draft or a FA signing.
  • LB - Mostly set, maybe keep taking mid-round shots at athletic guys
  • CB - Needs major attention, priority need in the first two rounds of the draft, as well as either a double dip later in the draft or a FA signing.
  • S - Needs major attention, right now there's no depth and if CB doesn't take a step there's a serious problem
  • ST - Set
So if we don't sign anyone else, First three picks in April are going DT, CB, and S for me. WR and DE fall in behind those three and may be more luxury than critical need.

His last three seasons have had 5, 9 and 14 games played. At least it's trending up so maybe he hits 16 this year with him resting the final week of the season. It probably means they are waving the white flag on making a splash at DE. He's a body for one season or at least as much of one season as he remains healthy then on to someone new next year.

I certainly don’t mind trying it…but I’m a bit surprised they wanted to. The odds that he’s out there making plays when they REALLY need him feels low. But he’s obviously chasing a ring taking that deal. So you cross your fingers and hope the heavy rotation keeps him on the field when the playoffs come

I like it. The premium add for the defense has to be the DT between Groot and Oliver. The opposite DE will flourish if that’s achieved.

I’m all in on DT in the first round. And then you can go and get a DE and DB in the second (though WR and even RB aren’t off the table)

Also likely signifies the comp/extension on Hendrickson too high, and or Cin reluctance to trade to AFC rival.

Yeah it’s a great stop gap. I’d still draft his replacement this year.
I think the Bills were reading the tea leaves some and came to the conclusion that there really isn't going to be a real high-ceiling edge rusher available to us at 30. The likely value plays will be at DT or CB with an outside chance if Starks falls to us (or maybe Emmanawhatever) or maybe possibly WR.

BUT

I also think that there will/could be considerable value at edge rusher for one of our 2 2nd round picks. So we bring Bosa in, PRAY he stays healthy....keep a veteran guy on the PS at all times.....and develop our draft pick behind Groot/AJE/Bosa/Solomon

If you’re taking a risk, make it a one year risk. Leonard Floyd was a great gamble which worked.

Bosa is a one year risk. Draft his replacement, Bosa gives the Bills a year, however it goes, and that buys time for the replacement to step up as the right end.

Smart move.
Definitely worth the risk on a one year deal at that price. Have to limit his snap count to keep him healthy. Let's Go! 🦬🦬🦬

They may think that Solomon is their high ceiling edge rusher too, the Bosa one year stop gap provides some insurance to Solomon.

That being said, I really think that while the edge position doesn't have a lot of star power in this years draft class, the depth is pretty damn good.
