Rousseau was asked why he signed now and not wait to see what deals were there in the future and he basically just said because I don’t want to be anywhere else.

It’s so weird to have that be 100% believable in one building and feel like fan service in the other one.

I mean…I wouldn’t want to leave either. I am sure he could have gotten more if he waited….i think he could have gotten more NOW. But if you want to give me life changing money to stay on a team competing for a ring every year…yeah I’ll listen to that. Grass isn’t always greener…even if the money is

Rousseau was going to count for his 5th year so there has to be some good savings there.
Heard his cap hit should drop from 14M~ to around 8M. Not sure how accurate that is but I’ll take it. BB has a few more options too - JA ext, DD restructure. McGovern. Brown. Knox. I remember listening to Joe Marino’s podcast a week or so ago where he explained how BB can clear up to around 75M if he wanted to. Not advocating we do that, but Beane has options if he plans on bring in a big name at Edge.

This is nonsense.

Bernard is very good in coverage. They didn't gift him that contract. Terrel earned every penny of it. My concerns with him are injury related. He made numerous significant splash plays the previous year being 1 of 3 players since 1982 to finish the season with 6+ sacks 3+ INT's and 3+ Fumble recoveries. It's not even that big of a contract. 4 year/50M with 25M guaranteed. For comparison, Tremaine signed a 4 year/72AM contract with 50M guaranteed. I'll take Bernard over Tremaine any day of the week.
I simply disagree. We don't seem to be in disagreement regarding Bernard's run defense. Or his blitzing skills. They are, at best, meh.

So his coverage skills seem to be where we part ways. Which, in fairness, coverage is particularly hard to assess, as relevant metrics are hard to come by. But I can't say I've ever watched Bernard and thought to myself "well, we can probably play a bunch of man against the Raiders next week if we want to, because I'm fine letting Bernard take Bowers." I just don't see him as that level of player. And to be honest, I don't really know of anyone who does. Frankly, it's pretty telling to me that no one in here seems to be talking about Bernard as some elite coverage guy to justify this deal. He's not Fred Warner or prime Bobby Wagner or something. He's fine. But nothing special there either.

On a brighter note, Rousseau at 4 years, $80 mil is sweet. Much like the Shakir deal, it's a good $10 million less than I was expecting. Great contract.
