I love Kyle Brandt so much.

Also - love getting Bernard locked up. Probably a tad rich on the APY but I bet that's heavily incentivized.
I doubt there are a lot of incentives. It's likely going to look like a slighter cheaper version of the Shakir deal.

$12.5M per is less than Milano's deal and a far lower % of cap at signing when compared to Milano. It's a decent deal for a starting MLB.

Now they need to get bigger at DT to keep him clean.

That re-signing money is starting to get allocated. We had five big names to decide on this off-season:
-Cook
-Rousseau
-Benford
-Bernard
-Shakir

The last two are now locked up. Benford needs to be the top priority next. I just don't see it for Cook at anything above $12x4 right now. Is what it is, running backs are expendable, cornerbacks and the safety valve for your QB on offense and leader of your defense are not.

Benford could be the toughest one as he is a late day 3 pick and might want to get top of the market money.

It wouldn't shock me at all if McGovern and Rousseau are the next two extensions they get done. Especially since those two deals free up more 2025 cap space than Benford.

Makes sense, I guess McGovern should have been on the list, too. He's great.

My concern is that we are THIN at CB even with Benford. I know McDermott can coach guys up but our secondary looks like one of, if not the, worst in the league if we don't keep him around long-term.

Benford is obviously the best player of the five…and the most important. But he’s also the one they would franchise if need be. His situation isn’t as pressing because paying him top 5 money at his position is more than fine on the tag. So they have more runway with him than the others…because I’m not paying any of them top five at their position. Benford is getting the bag either way.

If Benford wants to sign now at whatever they offer…great. Do that. If not…it can literally wait another year unlike the others.

Rousseau I wait and see. There are other options to invest big money at pass rusher on out there right now. If we do that, and they should do something…I’m just gonna hold off.

Cook I’m not touching with what he’s smoking. I’d say run him into the ground but he doesn’t get enough touches for that to happen for a reason.

If this is one of Connor's relatives, I'm guessing he really likes it with the Bills...

I forget about McGovern because his success is the most found money situation we have. Slot him above Rousseau on my rankings. Which is, roughly, 238,900 miles away from Cook. Whose ask may as well be on the moon. Along with my respect for how he’s handled himself.

I'm a little concerned with the Bernard extension. It's going rate for a starting MLB......but I want him to be much more consistent on the mundane plays. Too often he runs himself out of a play or bites on play action. And his splash plays dried up this year.

But if he improves, he'll easily be worth that money if not more.
Hopefully will benefit from a stronger DL, if that's hopefully in the cards

I agree, he definitely has to continue to develop for the deal to have value.

This is true…but it’s also why he is doing it. His agent is smart enough to know where he ranks out of guys eligible for an extension. At the bottom. He wants to get paid off of a touchdown to yards ratio Cook will never repeat. If he plays another season without the extension…those numbers go down. And so does his dollar amount.

And he’s doing it publicly to a team he knows doesn’t want this drama shit and ate a giant contract to cut loose a better player at a more important position to avoid it. He might as well have asked for a trade…all that matters to their side is cashing in on the season he had…because it won’t happen again. And they know it probably won’t happen here given the line in front of him
