I would be shocked if they were willing to trade him to an AFC contender.

But, I would take a deal for him now as opposed to waiting to see if they could get Garrett.
I'm not really interested in giving up an asset + 25-30 million a year. Hendrickson has always been my least favorite of the DE options.

I keep seeing a 2nd + Coleman for DK floated and I can't believe Bills fans like this idea. DK at $30 million a year doesn't interest me much at all, before you start adding in trading actual assets for the right to do it.

Hot take:I wouldn't trade Coleman for DK straight up.
Totally agreed, especially when taking contracts into consideration.

I think they go hard after Slayton in FA to be the other boundary guy. Get an inexpensive vet like Dane Jackson to compete for CB2 with a 2nd round rookie. Use the 1st and other 2nd to get DL and possibly safety. Then trade next year's picks for Garrett.

The challenge is that Hendrickson might be the only of the premium DEs that have been rumored to be trade targets that actually gets traded.

So, the question is whether you trade for Hendrickson or sign a UFA (the market isn't great) or just hope to get a guy in the draft.

They absolutely have to upgrade the DL this offseason. If the Browns are going to play hardball with Garrett and drag it into training camp, then Beane has to move on and make a move before then.

Kirk getting traded to the Texans now

The Nielson hire is one reason why I am intrigued by the idea of trading for Hendrickson.

The back-to-back 17.5 sack seasons doesn't hurt, either.

DK wants palm trees.

:sarcasm:

Honestly, I was really excited about a potential DK trade at first. Talent-wise, he's an amazing player at the right age.

But, as I've researched a bit....its kinda antithetical to what really worked for us. I would be OK with it....but I'm a bit leery about his attitude/tantrums. If he just looking for better weather and more money, let him go to California somewhere. Just keep him away from KC/Baltimore.

I'm sure fans would have completely reasonable takes if they go CB in the 1st.

Assuming we keep all our day 2 picks....its an incredibly deep DT draft. If a good corner drops to us, we are going to get a good DT at 56 still.

If people haven't learned any lessons from the 2024 season with regards to the Bills and big money, big ego WR1s, I really don't know what to tell them.

I would be surprised if Beane went after a WR like DK for a number of reasons.

Josh proved in 2024 that he doesn't need an Alpha WR1 to thrive. So, all the fans and media that are still fixated on getting that guy really are wasting time, IMO.

I am expecting a FA like Josh Palmer or a draft pick like one of the burners from Texas, Iowa State, or Maryland is the path they take as they roll with Everybody Eats.

I mean, why mess with the recipe that led to the second best scoring offense in the NFL and had Josh being named MVP?

Also heard Indy is a favorite to trade for him as his previous Cin DC just moved there.

I love Trey Amos, I regularly take him in mocks in the 2nd round if he's still available with our pick. I wouldn't be upset if we took him in the first either.

Of the hundreds (thousands?) of mocks I've done, I've settled on some patterns and guys I like:
  • 1 (30)
    • Run to the podium if he's available: Kenneth Grant DT
    • If Not, Then: Derrick Harmon DT, Nick Emmanwori S, Jahdae Barron CB, Benjamin Morrison CB
    • Another realistic idea: Package with a 4th to move down a few spots and pick up a 3rd.
  • 2nd round:
    • Run to the podium if he's available: Trey Amos CB & Jalen Royals WR
    • If Not, Then: Alfred Collins DT, Deone Walker DT, Darius Alexander DT, Josaiah Stewart DE, Jordan Burch DE, Ashton Gillotte DE, Isaiah Bond WR, Jayden Higgins WR, Andrew Mukuba S, Denzel Burke CB, Darien Porter CB
  • 4th round targets: Tai Felton WR, Jeffrey Bassa LB, Jaylen Reed S, Malachi Moore S, Ahmed Hassanein DE, Fadil Diggs DE, several double dip targets at DT (Caldwell, Farmer, West, Pegues)
  • 5th round & 6th round targets: Depth for TE, RB, OL, LB
Really like the depth of DT, DE, RB, TE, and OL going into the 4th and 5th rounds. Depth at S is ok, and not a big fan of the depth at WR or CB. It's obviously a very weak class at QB, although I'm actually higher on Dart than most.

I'm also a fan of using those 5th and 6th rounders as trade chips to move up a few spots in the earlier rounds.

I've had the (dis)pleasure of listening to him on a number of podcasts the last few years and he comes across as super disingenuous. He'll go on Pardon My Take for example and pretend he's in on their sarcasm and subtle jokes but he's not and they just take it easy on him. His retort for any joke that people would otherwise be self-deprecating about is "but I'm faster than you are lolz". Our WR room is decidedly a humble group of guys and he wouldn't fit in at all.
