Just an aside, I really wish people wouldn't pretend to know what transpires behind closed doors with regards to Pegula's ownership methods.
I THINK the two are entirely different entities being ran by the same ownership group. The one organization has had the benefit of good leadership, and success due largely in part to finding the diamond in the rough - the same diamond that tends to shift the scales in your favor, due to the rules the NFL has put in place. That diamond has afforded them a measure of stability that most organizations wish they had.
The other organization... is in the NHL. It's a league where Connor McDavid, the best player to touch the ice in well over twenty years, can only make $10-20M a year. Where kids can't afford icetime or gear. Where games aren't broadcasted sensibly. Where the social media footprint is borderline nonexistent. Where guys are drafted at 18 and only ever reach their peak at 27, but coaches and GMs are fired every three years. Where the development league does nothing in the way of developing talent.
At its core, the NHL is rotten and in need of a complete overhaul less the league risks losing further marketshare.
I don't think we need to take anything away from Pegula, his family, his methods or interests. The NHL is just a bad investment these days.
No.
Give me Garrett, or continue building through the draft. I don't need another washed WR.
