Buffalo Bills The offseason begins

I don’t have X so it took me awhile to find him on the SB roster. PFN was the only spot I can find him.

I watched his games a bit. I don’t agree with all of the NFL Draft Buzz report. Here’s a report that counters some of it.

I prefer to watch for myself. Just because he’s lined up a particular way in college doesn’t mean that’s where his potential is at the NFL level. Thinking that way causes teams to pass over players and regret it.

Receivers can be taught how to release and read coverages. As an example.

"I prefer to watch for myself."

I've watched him a bunch. Originally it was to watch Quentin Johnston who I thought the Bills might draft. The other times it was because TCU was playing a team I wanted to watch.

That scouting report pretty much agrees with what I was saying.

Big dynamic athlete. You can move him around at WR, RB, or even wildcat QB. Can make explosive plays.

When it comes to actually playing the WR position he's just really lacking in the traits you want.

Sure, but I don't want to be spending a high pick on a guy you have to teach how to be a WR at the pro level. He's also a bit older to begin with. Will be 24 his rookie season.

If we're spending a day 3 pick on him that's fine. I honestly prefer his teammate Jack Bech.

The report from the draft network doesn’t completely align with NFL draft buzz. It shows more potential. Which is more of what I’m saying.

I don’t disagree with you or NFL draft buzz (I like that site, also). But at some point potential and projection matters. Epenesa was a projection. Josh Allen was a projection, based on his accuracy and decision making improving.

I think the Bills need a fast boundary receiver. I like Williams projecting into that role. I also like Golden, Royals, Ayomanor, and Horton in that role. Royals is my favorite receiver in the draft.

I think Williams projects into something the Bills really need. I don’t think Bech is what Buffalo needs.

Fowler's notebook:
  • The Chiefs very much want to keep receiver Hollywood Brown, who should have a good market due to teams' desire for speed options on the outside. Mahomes advocated for signing Brown last year and will likely do so again. Will another star quarterback -- like Josh Allen -- be next? People with the Chiefs I spoke to this week believe that Allen has long wanted to play with Brown.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm

Pegula wouldn't tell Beane or McD what to do. He operates the Bills VERY differently than he operates the Sabres.

I truly believe this is a McDermott thing.
IDK man rumor has it he's gonna hire himself as the new ST coach.

Upon further review, McDermott had to come to the realization that the ST play hasn't met the standard of a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

I mean, the Bills are a process oriented team.

They weren't going to fire anyone within a few days of the season ending without doing a serious review. They isn't how they operate traditionally. My guess is that the firing (along with the assistant defensive coordinator hiring) were a result of exit interviews and analysis of the impacts of special teams.

I think Pegula feels like he's a hockey expert because he was a fan before buying the team, but he never really cared about football. That was Kim's domain.

So he's more willing to let the football experts make football decisions, but when it comes to actual hockey experts, he fancies himself one of them so he sticks his nose in more.

McBeane have leverage. The minute they feel any overreach they can say no. Terry can’t fire them and if he does they would be employed within hours. Adams has no no such leverage. He will allow TP all the influence he desires because this is essentially his last gig in an NHL front office. He may very well feel he has good ideas for the Bills, but McBeane can determine that. Adams has no choice but to let Terry play hockey guy.

Just an aside, I really wish people wouldn't pretend to know what transpires behind closed doors with regards to Pegula's ownership methods.

I THINK the two are entirely different entities being ran by the same ownership group. The one organization has had the benefit of good leadership, and success due largely in part to finding the diamond in the rough - the same diamond that tends to shift the scales in your favor, due to the rules the NFL has put in place. That diamond has afforded them a measure of stability that most organizations wish they had.

The other organization... is in the NHL. It's a league where Connor McDavid, the best player to touch the ice in well over twenty years, can only make $10-20M a year. Where kids can't afford icetime or gear. Where games aren't broadcasted sensibly. Where the social media footprint is borderline nonexistent. Where guys are drafted at 18 and only ever reach their peak at 27, but coaches and GMs are fired every three years. Where the development league does nothing in the way of developing talent.

At its core, the NHL is rotten and in need of a complete overhaul less the league risks losing further marketshare.

I don't think we need to take anything away from Pegula, his family, his methods or interests. The NHL is just a bad investment these days.

pick one, Cooper or Brown ?

No.

Give me Garrett, or continue building through the draft. I don't need another washed WR.

There were whispers in the past reported from Tim Graham or someone that McBeane were not entirely happy with the meddling in the Bill's as well.

Interested to see if they bring in someone to run S/T or promote the next inline Cory Harkey (who has not been let go).

If Josh wants Brown, I bet they make a go

You're not changing my mind with Tim Graham. Or Tyler Dunne.
